Bumping this up .... because I am lazy and I want to see what others are watching *Grins

What I am seeing is that the favs are still the old ones from 10 years ago. Does this mean that the new animes coming out are rubbish? I am beginning to think so ...

Hey i see somebody else rocking some of the classics, gunbuster is an epic anime, one of those tragic tales like the gall force series.

I also remember when capt Tylor was a hugely popular title among the fan groups.

Absolutely! Gunbuster drew on Aim for the Ace! for inspiration, and layered what was an already touching story with a high-stakes sci-fi plot for an amazing experience. The fact that their titles were extremely similar (Ace wo Nerae! vs. Top wo Nerae!) would have been obvious to their Japanese audience, who would immediately get the reference. And of course Irresponsible Captain Tylor masked a strong anti-war message as a light-hearted comedy without being heavy-handed about it. There are so many anime classics that still hold up well to this day!

Indeed, as an old school fan it makes me happy to see newer fans rediscover some of the iconic old shows, of course O-S helps with that quite a bit with such a large library.
