Default How much would you use this special card?

Let's say you are given a special card for purchasing items. Instead of things like money or credit, for every dollar something costs you have to do five minutes of manual labor for the card giver (you are transported his location and can't leave until you've done enough work for him.) For purchases that are long enough that means you have to keep working for him, and your only breaks are for meals and bedtime. Basically if you bought something worth one million dollars with the card you would have to do nine and a half years of labor.

I would never use this. The time cost is way to high. In the above example, no vacations, no days off, no sick days. Not to mention what falls under the umbrella of manual labor? I can think of a lot of horrible ways this could be exploited. How do you get your meals while in this indentured servitude? How do you get clothes, bed, ect...

Can you imagine needing to do 15 minutes of digging a ditch for a soda? Or nearly two hours of shoveling snow for a pizza?

I would destroy this card if it was ever given to me.

I guess I can change the description from manual labor to chores. Also the card giver provides bed and food.

not sure how much the salary of an office worker in the usa but in this special card its about 12dolar per hour... not bad of an offer...

Typically it would just be household chores and yard work, but if the card giver has some big project in mind or there's a storm you'd have to get involved in that as well.

There's not really much incentive is there? I mean, maybe I'd be slightly tempted if this gave 1000s of $$$ an hour or if there was some revive one person from the dead for 15 minutes clause at the end, but this setup is too much like real life I think. Not enough incentive to switch plans.

It would make it easier to save your actual money since you wouldn't be spending any of it.

    $1 for 5 minutes of work? That's $12/hour... It's just pre-paid work instead of post-paid.

I'm definitely sticking with my day job. I'm already doing 40 hours a week at a better rate. Unless I end up unemployed and out of cash, I have no reason to use the card.

Umm when would you have time to work a job that would pay you the money to save. Your to busy working off the time owed for the card usage. lol

Only for minor purchases or if I run out of cash and need something like really need not just want. As it is I work 10 hour days at a plastic factory I already feel like I dont have enough time left in a day. So that would be my limiting factor

You're not obligated to use it all the time. It's something to use if you don't want to spend your money and would rather just do a little work instead, it doesn't have to be time consuming.

i think this depends on who use the card and what work is needed for payment... if a person who has a daily wage of 10dollar will receive this card and the work payment is doing household chore and cleaning the lawn chances are he/she will use that card... for me i might use it...

I think I would use it for small purchases, if money is tight. I've definitely been broke enough in the past that this would have been very appealing lol.
