Default What *NON-MANGA* books have you read recently?

I've looked around on the forums and have found a thread regarding books, however this included manga and was in the Otaku section. I'll include the link later if you want to talk about manga.
Right, so I'm a big fantasy book series reader. Epic fantasy, dark fantasy you name it. I totally enjoy the entire idea of a world where the normal rules don't apply, where magicians can bend space and time or when machines have consciousness. Oh, yeah I also like science fiction too.
So, what have YOU read recently?

@Rhienor: Have you tried Trudi Canavan's books?

Fantasy and classic literature for me, I'm currently reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time : ) So far it's very entertaining.
I also recommend the series A song of Ice and Fire (1stKaiser, if you read me xD) - I didn't like the Game of Thrones TV series, but the books are really worth it, the style is particularly attractive

Mostly Stephen King novels, and my favorites are Mr. Mercedes and Finders Keepers (those two are in a series), and I can't wait for the 3rd book to be released

I recently downloaded the complete works of Lovecraft, for free :) on Amazon, to my Kindle and I've been reading that. C'thulu is such a popular reference for the arcane and evil, I want to see what's it's actually all about.

I'm finding that I have less time this year than ever before to read, so the only things I've read recently were a couple of CCNA books for work so I could renew my certification.

    Life's catching up on me..

The Broken Empire Trilogy...I think. It was either that or Of Mice And Men.

Do textbooks count? I usually read a lot of them for university. I think I need to go and read some more non-manga/light novel books though.

I've read a book entitled "The anonymous" it's a local novel and it was really interesting, it dwells in into the concept of life after death.

High Fantasy, Fantasy and Fantasy are great. A lot of the ones i tend to read have been influenced by Robert Jordan and his Wheel of Time series. Melissa McPhail's A Pattern of Shadow and Light series is currently my favorite series of anything im reading though

a few that I've read recently are

    1. Heir Apparent (not a series) without spoiling it's about a girl who gets trapped in a video game and must successfully play through to the end. It's a good read I stumbled upon in 7th grade and have loved it ever since.

    2. The Fallen (series) again no spoilers It's about a boy who discovers he has some unique gifts and his journey as he learns more about himself and his new destiny.
