[EDIT] - Gomen it looks like the pics look small D: just click on it so you can see it bigger :D oh and I chose avi cuz sometimes the other prog. crashes went its not avi...
So the sb had this for a topic and some asked me for a tutorial and finally someone also said for me to make a thread so heres a tutorial to make an animated gif
so what about an animated gif? well for one you can use it as an avatar here in OS :D as long as the width is complies with the os avatar size and its not bigger than 244.1 KB...
Yosh! lets begin :D
Programs you would be needing:
Format Factory (http://www.formatoz.com/)
Video Avatar (http://rapidshare.com/files/339717076/V.A.3.by.ItsAndy.rar)
1. Get the video you want :D dl it from youtube or whatever :))
2. Convert the video into .avi format if its not in this format. Using Format factory, click on the avi button as shown here:
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/1.jpg
3. Click on add file as shown here and choose the vid you want:
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/2.jpg
4. After selecting, click on options and this will show up:
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/3.jpg
Well all you see is black but I dont know why that is...anyways it would play your vid automatically...what you do here is to press start time button a few seconds before the part of the video you want to make into an avatar
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/4.jpg
Then press the End Time button a few seconds after the part/scene you wanna use :D
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/5.jpg
5. Afterwards press okay and it will return you to the previous window...just press OK above the add file button and it will return you to the first screen with this:
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/6.jpg
the red lines show what you are converting :)) and the blue lines indicate what to press XD
6. after pressing start it will begin converting...once it is finished click on the output folder button to locate the file you've converted and paste it to your desktop to make things easier...
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/8.jpg
7[OPTIONAL] you can btw use format factory to convert in into an animated gif immediately but sometimes conversion is off and I'm not sure if it can make animated gifs with only less than a second >.<
Now we're done using Format Factory :D
now Fire up Video Avatar and we're almost done
I will use only 1 reference picture for this :D its color coded so I will explain the usage of the program by color
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/kbw121/ani%20avatar/9.jpg
Alright lets start with the green box...this is where you will choose the file to turn into an animated gif/avatar
Next is the dark blue box... basically you can preview what your avatar will be like after conversion (take note though very fast animations would turn out a little slower though) aside from preview you set the width and height here...and if I'm not mistaken max width is 100px for OS I think check the rules to make sure :)) you can check on cyclic play to show how it looks like as an animated gif
the gold box shows a box with 8 small boxes...use this to crop your video(selecting the portion of the video you only want to be seen) resize it to your liking but take note it will also change the dimensions shown in the blue box...
now lets go to the teal box(below the blue one)
of course output file will be where the avatar will be saved so I suggest to put it in the desktop again...then theres 3 check boxes:
*reverse- havent tried this :P
*high quality- like it says :P
*Frames/sex - fps
what to take note: max fps is 10...the higher the fps, the bigger the file so it would be ideal to use 10fps and high quality if the animation is around 1-4 secs I think? just play with it till your satisfied...the program also shows approximated size anyways
next is the orange box (this is where most of the work is done)
-there are 2 sliders marked with violet
-use them to set the beginning and ending of the animated gif
-there pointer above it just indicates what part of the vid you are watching
-I dunno what the + and 100% are for sadly D:
Lastly there is the red box - its kinda obvious :P
finally check if the file generated is within the 244.1KB limit of OS then upload as you avatar :D
good luck and dont hesistate to ask questions :D except for links >.<
