No avg is terrible in my opinion it misses so many viruses, I dislike norton as well I prefer Avast or Avira security i have used both in the past and both are strong security systems, also malwarebytes is not a bad option for malware, When I ran security like Norton or AVG I was wormed once, DDOS a couple times had so many viruses I picked up just from everyday usage that never were detected, and it was updated on a regular basis. Run Avast or Avira security one or the other; not both and watch the difference, in your computer.

yes Avira is really good and yeah unfortunately you will have to continue to update after trial unless you deem to buy the full package, which is optional and if you buy it you have a very secure system that is high quality and at same time is user friendly so you can continue to play pc games such as league or dota or other without it blocking files you have to have to keep it running. however if your wanting something a little longer without having to pay or update frequently try Avast same quality and I was happy with Avast to the same degree as Avira. Have not had a single virus since running either one, it has cleaned everything clean and alerted me when something either tried to effect me or when it needs to run a scan to get rid of a detected virus, if you ignore it it will scan later anyways if the virus is acting like one.

Yes, Avast Free is a good antivirus for being a free version. It's even good detection on blocking bad sites, has a sandbox and run light on system. I also like the voice of Avast. But keep your windows firewall on and defender updated, because Avast free doesn't have a firewall and it doesn't hurt to have an additional pc free scanner from norton or bitdefender etc since it uses another antivirus database.

I'd go with Avast, its light and free for 1 year just need to register your account there and you can have it for whole year.

I've actually never used an antivirus program before. Yes, I have a PC and not a Mac.

There's only been one instance since 2008 where I actually got a virus (modified version of Cryptolocker), and the reason I got it was from passing around a "questionable" .RAR file at a LAN party with some people I used to work with.

Generally the best antivirus "program" of all is simply: be smart on the Internet.

Use popup blockers wherever you can
If you're going to questionable websites, either don't - or use Incognito or InPrivate browsing to do so
If you're not sure what it is, don't click on it; Alt+F4 or Ctrl+W to close popups that look suspicious
Don't open emails that you can tell from the title are spam/malicious
Use complicated passwords for websites; your dog's name doesn't count :)
Be REALLY cautious when downloading files from sources you've never heard of before

is this paid advertisement?... lol JK

im also using the free Avast and its really good the only thing i hate about Avast is that it deletes my some of my files whenever it catches a virus and cant fix it, like one time it deleted some files on steam and some of my games so it became corrupted :(

i really think all "free anti-virus" is the same, they just give you some taste of their full potential for a limited amount of days then cuts off all the good parts and leaves you with the "free" part, which they always reminds you to buy their product. but for the sake of this post, I'm using AVG btw :/
