Depends. But usually, I would listen to music then draw or write something. Sometimes, due to being so sad, I even up drawing something so sad and depressing as well or I am able to come up with a poem or a short story. There are times as well that I may decide to go stress eating but when super sad I tend to lose appetite. I would do a lot of random things. It actually depends on the level of sadness or severity. Because doing just one thing isn't enough for me to do to make me recover from the sadness I am feeling inside that I might need some major cheering up. Sometimes, a hug is nice, too.

I've accepted sadness as a necessary balance to maintain my sanity so I embrace it, mellow in it and learn what I can about its origins before it fades back into my thinker.
I try not to muddy my thoughts with outside influence, but when I do it's usually sad music moreso to prolong the emotion than to ease it.

When I'm sad I'll lay down on my bed and think about even more sad things which makes me end up crying. I also eat pickles as a comfort food. XD

I take drugs when I'm sad. And then I'm sad no longer.

Being sad and lonely can lead to depression. That's what we learned in college as psychology students.

Focusing on the feelings of loneliness of sadness can drive a person to depression.

Honestly, for the past few weeks I had a very hard time from picking myself up from a 3 month old depression, and I'm starting to recover just now... The emotions I feel right now are not yet as vibrant as the emotions that I felt way before I sank into depression... but, I'm starting to feel a bit more... well, I guess alive. Thanks to the support of my family and friends.

I didn't blame anyone but myself for this, but I forgave myself for everything I did... that really opened doors for me. Because really, anything we feel right now, we're partly at fault... You only get to become a victim once, and that's only through external factors; what happens next is your own doing.

Might sound cliche, but everyday... along with returning to my old hobbies that I used to enjoy, I practice to the idea of "fake it 'till you make it", creating new hobbies and replacing negative activities, and most importantly constant introspection helps me combat it. If memories haunt me, I just blast myself with music and think of mathematical equations.

But of all these things, the most important thing is that you keep at it even when it gets tough, and don't beat yourself up when you're trying to recover with negative self-concepts, succumbing to negative opinions of other people about you (instead, ain't that a good thing from you to start learning from?). Instead of what most people do: beating themselves up with how things happened because they do it to other people too... befriend yourself, you got hurt... you need to comfort yourself . Learning your mistakes comes after recovery, you'll just hate yourself if you try to choke yourself on the lessons you should be learning that you should be absorbing after you recover, and you'll register them as condemnation, ideas of self-hate, etc.

Be your own self's bestfriend... be kinder to yourself, the world's already harsh as it is and you're making it more difficult on yourself by being a bully to yourself. And after your bestfriend's picked you up, then you can do what a friend does... teach yourself about your own shortcomings little by little instead of keeping yourself blind as to why you failed horribly the last time.

Different things really, depending on what kind of sad we are talking about, but music is a common thing I guess.

I'll usually bottle it in for months on end, then watch some sad shows in order to 'have a reason' to let the dam burst. Reading books that draw you in and make you feel a part of the story was an old method that I haven't been able to fall back into the swing of but that's how I made it through the school years. Now, it's just about only sad anime, sad tv, sad movies.
Wallowing just doesn't help, nor does the bottling, but hey. Only human after all. (Right?)

I put on some relaxing chilling music, and I lose myself in a book. Try to escape from the world for a little bit. I also try to surround myself with friends or family.

Listen to Yiruma's River Flows In You whenever I'm sad and gaze upon the sea since the sea is pretty much near here

I watch youtube videos and distract myself or play online games or eat food or just sleep. ._ . I think the last option would probably fit me. :C

Depends on the level of sadness...If it's mild I listen to music preferably acoustic or jazz or bossa nova (most of the time I'd sing-along)If its really that bad like I'm really really sad yet I don't want to cry. I'd go out for a walk..A long walk...a breathe of fresh air is nice to calm my emotions... and I get to think and reflect....if not I'd go cook or bake something new...but most of the time, I go for that long walk...
