Google is Harassing Manga Websites to get rid of Mature Manga

I don't know if this is news to you or not but have you noticed this but lately Google has been a nuisance and has been harassing websites that provide reading of online manga. First they ban loli sites and now they're harassing websites to remove their mature manga that contains sexual or pornographic content or they get banned as well.

I may be overstepping my conclusions or I; m just being to emotional about this but if you have more detailed info please feel free to share.

I understand where you're coming from. OneManga has to go through a search to remove that stuff and has closed off all mature manga from updates. Which I find kind of annoying, because there are some really good Mature manga which are only mature cuz of a bit of blood (i.e. Deadman Wonderland). However, I do understand where they're coming from. A lot of people use Google, and some of that stuff may come off as inappropriate. My little brother reads on Onemanga all the time. It would be horrible for him to accidentally come up on a manga with stuff like that. So yeah.

Its Google's website they can do whatever they want with it.
Google probably doesn't want to be a tool for kids to search for pornographic sites.
Its a responsible business choice they are making that would probably hurt their profits.

I say who cares. The graphic contents of Mature manga often give some insight into some of the less tasteful parts of society...I say if they have to learn sometime it might as well be while being entertained ^-^. Honestly I think my lil sis is a bit naive...a quick read of Goldenboy would straiten her out. It's like my asshat parents are always saying though...life ain't fair.

and in google chrome can you do the same?
when i was checking mf it was gone not there anymore
so very sad but what the hell are they doing doing a thing not even the mature tag

As someone else rightfully commented - its Google's decision and who knows the background behind it? Maybe one of their top people were sexually abused as a kid or knows some horrendous story of some form of abuse or something that has made them shy away from encouraging such stuff on their search engine.

Again - its their choice and just as we all want to read and watch exactly what we want, then they too have the same freedom to ban what they want.

If OneManga is pulling the stops - switch to MangaFox. They have a far better selection anyway - been telling this to people from days of yore.

For every choice taken away from the web, another 10 will sprout up. Its really utterly pointless getting all hot under the collar about it. We dont have any control over such stuff and unlike causes such as saving the dolphins or saving the earth, petitioning about it or writing long fiery blogs aint gonna do a thing. They are a private business and will do exactly what they like

Maybe...this is really absolutely disgusting..
I had no idea it spawned from Google or what, but Onemanga and perhaps other of our favorite manga sites suddenly announced that 'mature' content would be removed.
Come on.. what has happened to freedom of speech and creativity?
Perhaps they could simply add a [you mist be 18 and above] rather then remove the collection...
hopefully this crusade against this sort of thing stops. who knows whats next? ecchi? Yuri?

On the flip side, it's good that the minors and like are protected. There must be some way that everyone can enjoy manga though...

Uhm... let me just re-state the problem to those who aren't enlightened yet. Google harasses the websites to remove them or they get banned as in REMOVED using the U.S. Laws against pornography. They don't own the websites which what ticks me off. Honestly I want them removed too but they are inhibiting the rights of the people to freely chose what they want to read and that's what ticks me off. There also other stories that are pretty good as well and Mature Manga isn't so childish so I kind of get interest in it. If you read beyond the visual pornographic content they have a good story that adults can enjoy. And to think the translators who put a lot of hard work in those manga and would just get removed from those sites and most of them don't get paid because they do it voluntarily. I feel sad that this is happening. Google is abusing its power already. First they ban loli sites and now they harass websites to remove mature manga, honestly this has got to stop.

It won't stop...as long as the people have their freedom someone will always try to take it away, and vice versa. That is what I believe anyway...its a vicious cycle.

With MangaFox and Onemanga being attacked from Google and running around like chickens with their heads chopped off trying to get whatever back on their websites. People will need a new place to read their "mature/adult/violence" rated mangas. I personally I think it's time for OS to get started on hosting a Manga section. ;]

what do you mean by browser? you mean new manga hosting website right? because the browsers such as IE, FireFox, Chrome, etc. aren't blocking those types of manga fyi.

It's not like I read manga a lot. To tell you the truth, I'm not very fond of it.
But, yeah. Google has been getting annoying lately.
Banning sites here and there, who do they think they are?
Just because they're one of the biggest websites there are, they have the right to do what they wish? Don't screw with me.
They should mind their own business.

I think Google is going down a risky path. They are starting to police the internet and as far as I know, those who attempted lost simply because its the mass population that rules. Once you have the general public against you its hard to maintain the status.

The reason people liked Google and how it got so big was because of its freedom and unrestrictive nature.

I haven't been seeing this issue from this particular angle so I change my view on this one. I still believe they can do whatever they want on their own site; but to pressure other sites to conform to their standards is a little forceful. I don't understand why mangafox and other sites just don't go against Google. They are big enough not to need a search engine like Google to keep their user base active. I suspect, as many of you are claiming, that Google is using some sort of pressure other than the simple "We won't put you on your search engine".

Though I am against these sites hosting mature content, Google may have crossed the line on this one. Even if it is may have been the morally correct choice, the methodology doesn't seem entirely ethical.

Well not all of the mature manga have sexual and pornographic content some are just for older people who understand what there talking about or it just really bloody and i don't know what wrong with that there alot of shows on tv that are bloody also from all the manga sites i've seen only one is making a stand of not removing their mature manga.

i mean why do they have to ban anything that isn't theirs
its not like they have to put it in peoples searches or anything like that
they can ban it from their site but why do they have to remove it
