Japanese entertainment company Marvelous AQL has officially confirmed what was accidentally leaked back in December: namely, that a film adaptation of Romeo Tanaka's light novel Aura: Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai is "coming soon."
Released in 2008, Tanaka's light novel fits perfectly into the school-based romantic comedy niche. The story revolves around your typical and ubiquitous high school freshman boy, Ichirō "Menzu" Satō. One day he forgets his textbooks at school and decides to sneak back into the building in the dead of night to retrieve them (because locks are apparently foreign to Japanese schools). While in the process Ichirō encounters the staple beautiful girl who just so happens to be a self-proclaimed witch from a parallel world. Unfortunately for Ichirō, he used to suffer delusions of grandeur like this all the time, only vowing to stop in an attempt to re-invent himself in his new role as high school freshman.
AIC ASTA will be producing the film version of Aura: Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai with Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Persona 4) as the Director. Makoto Uezu will be collaborating on the story composition elements with Scriptwriter Jun Kumagai. Kazuaki Morita will be adapting mebae's original novel illustrations for the project.

Fall Will See a "Completely New" Hayate no Gotoku Anime
Shogakukan's 31st issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that a new Hayate no Gotoku is "now in earnest production" and will air this fall. The issue also features what is supposedly "new" artwork for the series from the anime studio Manglobe.
Although the 99th volume of Kenjirou Hata's Hayate no Gotoku manga initially revealed the new anime last August, nothing had been heard about the project until now. And while that fleeting mention referred to the new series as the "third" season, this week's announcement in Weekly Shonen Sunday says nothing of the sort. It does emphasize that this will be a "completely new Hayate no Gotoku" based on Hata's "original concepts."
The piece in Weekly Shonen Sunday ends with the promise that more information will be released "in the near future."
