New "Vividred Operation" Original Animation Project

ASCII Media Works' July issue of Dengeki G's Magazine will hit the stands on Wednesday, and within it is the announcement that Kazuhiro Takamura is launching an "original new animation project" called Vividred Operation.

Aniplex will be planning and producing the project in cooperation with Dengeki G's Magazine in-house Director/Character Design Kazuhiro Takamura who is best known for Strike Witches. Hiroyuki Yoshino of Macross Frontier and Guilty Crown fame (infamy?) will partner with him as Series Script Editor. Actual animation production will be done by A-1 Pictures.

The official website for the upcoming project has been launched, providing the following tidbits of information to fans:

The theme is "friendship" and the genres is "girl Science-Fiction/Action."
The anime cutely depicts girls who strive to do their best.
The main heroine is a 14-year-old girl, and she lives with her little sister and grandfather. Their family is impoverished in many ways.
There are five heroines in total.
There is a mecha designer credited in the main staff. This designer has also been responsible for original character designs on other notable works.
The story is set on an artificial island (i.e. one made by science rather than by nature) island teeming with natural surroundings. The world is peaceful because science has solved all problems.
The main writer and mecha designer have worked together on a project (or projects?) in the past.

It is widely speculated by fans of Takamura's that this will be the "spiritual successor" of Strike Witches. Whether this is on account of the his choice of clothing for heroines (or lack thereof) or something more remains to be seen. At this time no further information is known about Vividred Operation.

Im really annoyed at Guilty Crown but that seeing another Strike Witches seems a good deal for me. Those information almost the same with Strike Witches. Ill look forward to this.

I like the side comment on GC...

But hopefully a potential spiritual successor to Strike Witches will far out weight it. With or without pants.

I try not to insert my own opinion into these articles, but sometimes I just can't help myself. When Guilty Crown (of all shows!) is one of two anime you're known for I think a comment simply must be made ^_^

i hope i can watch it. my time is almost limited because its almost time for school. i think weekends should be fine and holidays.

I'm indifference on this one. I'm not expecting anything from it anymore, cause I'll just turn out disappointed in the End like Guilty Crown for example. I'm not really disappointed, I just feel like that show would have been more Epic if it has more episodes. They rushed the Ending, disappointing all the watchers. But if that other Series is the same as "Strike Witches", then I'm looking forward to it.
