Countless superheroes have emerged, presented their powers and prowess but none of them supersedes Superman even the latest hit action heroes The Avengers, I think.

Too many cartoon characters have also emerged but even my 2-year old son, couldn’t miss out Superman. Our son sometimes changes his character from Astro Boy, to Ben 10, Spider Man, Incredible Hulk etc, but most of the time he’s a Superman.

One night while strolling in the streets of Manila, my son just asked me to carry him and he just quickly positioned himself into a flying-like-superman position. I could see grins from the people around us who saw his comic that time.

This clearly shows that everybody loves Superman. From my child, to his children and his children’s children, Superman will always be Superman.

This is what I have been trying to tell Shikie.

I am the past. And if not for all the most often mediocre thing called emotions, perhaps, everything is never random. Presence is defined not by time but through the rawness of experience. As long as all those memories LASTS then perhaps the rawness of life could be fresher than the empty verses of this prose.

There is no such thing called infinite or finite. We make things as they are. And if the word GONE existed even before we create a thing or two, the problem lies on what happens after next. And the fearful word called “next” just makes everything benign yet again.. everything is past.. and IT never lasted.

Save the best for last. It’s funny sometimes how we say life is a journey. Yet what truly matters mostly to many is the END of the journey. We forget that the end is an end itself. There are no more roads to take. No more “nexts”.. it’s the last stop. Life has only bitter-sweet GOALS to reach. It’s the journey itself that makes every reason honeyed and thick… sensible and laughable… understandable and meaningful… memorable and lasting.



It’s the last day. Eight more minutes to be exact. I’ll end the verses and the so-so. I’ll end the sojourn and all the things that happened in this moment will be left exactly when this moment ends. Why? If you ask me, I would answer you with a question. Why would you stop if loving her is all that matters to you? I fancy sticking to the reverse side. Because you know what, if you really love a person, but has decided to end that relationship between the two of you, you’ll prove to her how she’s going to miss a big chunk of her life if she let you go.

Instead of situating yourself on the corner brooding about how your life is in a big mess because you broke up, try to be more productive, think of ways on how to bring the spark back, and the butterflies that fill your stomach because you just can’t take the waves of electricity in your veins.

Think of how she will love you more and not wanting to ever let go again. Think of ways, AND DO THEM.

If you have to wait, then wait. It’s all going to be worth it in the end. If it’s not, then make the first move, even if it means doing the same things over and over again.

In love, there is no such thing as selfishness and pride in you.
Because the pride you have is the one you love.

The author shared some private things about his life that can be scrutinized by the public. But he nevertheless shared it, to prove one thing: no matter how great we are, we are still human, capable of making mistakes. All of us can be vulnerable and be put into compromising situations.

June 10, 2012 was the date of the Pacquiao-Bradley fight. Everyone was excited to watch. Although, noticeably the flame that was there before was less than what was there before. People was getting used to Pacquiao winning his fights maybe that’s the reason why some have lost interest with his fights. Nananawa na sila kumbaga. Lagi namang panalo eh so ano pa ang papanoorin nila ika nga.

Shocked. Bradley had a revelation before the fight. He did say something like he will shock the world. It may not be on those same words but im pretty sure that’s what he meant. Shock us he did. He won over Manny!! A split decision that shocked the world and stirred the emotions of many who watched the fight.

Just like a sleeping dragon that was poked from behind and woke up on the wrong side of the bed, people began dishing out comments against Bradley’s win. Outright they were saying that our Manny Pacquiao was robbed of the belt. Some even demanded that Bradley should give it back to Manny.





Smiled. After a couple of days, nung mawala na ang malalaking alon ng galit kay Bradley doon ako napangiti. You know why? I just realized that Manny has transcended beyond race and nationality. People were cheering for him. Black, white, hispanic, or any other race. They were fighting to state their opinions about the fight. Gusto nilang itama ang maling nagawa kay Manny.

I have never thought that I will live to see that day, but i did. A Filipino has transcended beyond our dreams and is now being cheered on by millions all throughout the world. A Filipino who is being championed by many throughout the world. Just like any legendary men and women who have lived through the ages. Pacquiao is now colorless but still very much a filipino in every sense. The great PacMan

has now moved up to the ranks of the greats no doubt about it.

But God, why her? She’s the one who told me that I’m ugly and I look like a mongoloid when we were in high school. She’s one of the many people who belittled and degraded me.

I know I should just be happy for her, and the right time will surely come for me. But it just stinks. I have seen the brightest day of her life during the peak of my darkest days.

And it grew more dark. But somehow, the stars entertained me.

You probably take a lot of crap from your parents or other family members, and I know hearing it from a stranger makes it absurd. I’m writing this because I’ve recently heard this story about a 13-year-old taking camp on his 15-year-old boyfriend’s apartment because she apparently had had enough of her parents’ scolding. She was gone for three days. Her mother went to the guy’s apartment and started lashing about, but the girl was nowhere to be seen. Turns out, she was hiding somewhere in the rooms (beats me how her mother didn’t find her), and her mind was set—she wanted to live with her boyfriend. Because she ‘loved’ him more than her family.

You see, love is blinding. Or the idea of it anyway. If someone tells you “I love you”, you’d feel elated, especially when you like the person saying those words. No matter your age, when you have that certain warm feeling inside when you hear sweet nothings, you’d probably have only one explanation for it: LOVE.

That’s where the trouble sets in. What is love, really? How can you be sure if you really love a person?

When I was your age, I was more like a kid than a teenager. I may have been a late-bloomer. Sure I had crushes, and I’ve had the “falling-for-you” and “unrequited-love-oh-I’m-unlucky” phases. The only difference was that before, I had fun being a kid and didn’t have deeper problems other than getting 79 in our Filipino subject. Oh if I could only let you hear and see our playful conversations and compare it to what you have now. I see you kids (yeah, you’re still kids for me) anywhere and all I hear in your convo is how much you adore your boyfriends, how heartbroken you are because your crush has someone else, what you should do to get someone interested (“should I use more makeup??”). It makes my head pound like crazy. I mean, seriously?

Let me tell you about love. It’s not only rainbows and butterflies. Oftentimes, you and your loved one will disagree on stuff, and you have to work out your differences if you want to last. There is no real reason for loving someone. Some people can attest that love is like a striking force and there aren’t any words or physical attributes that will make you realize that it has stricken you. It just comes. Love, more than inspiration, will be like your guide to the future—it will shape your decisions. You do not take advantage of each other, but instead help each other become the best. Remember the verse from the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

I am not a Christian, but this verse perfectly describes what I can tell you. Love can wait.

I don’t want to be self-righteous, but I will ask you, are you sure you really want to meddle with the world of love and the chaos that comes with it? You know, as much as we put this L-word in the highest pedestal, it is not everything. Love won’t pay the bills, money will. Love can never solve arguments, effort and understanding will. Love will not give you high grades, studying will.

I’m not saying you can’t have boyfriends or girlfriends, if you’re really into that sort of stuff. What I’m telling you is that you should think twice before making decisions this early. There are too many years for you to enjoy and waste if you want. Why insist on being in love when you can go for uncomplicated things like crushes? Being a kid entitles you to have lesser problems than adults have, and trust me, you would not want to have problems of 20 somethings.

Leave it to the adults to have wrinkles and fine lines on their faces. Wait until you’re older, okay? I can relate to you, maybe more than your parents can because I have once been your age few years back. Right now I’d trade a day of my 21 years to be a teenager again if someone would offer it to me. It’s fun being a teen. Let love in only when you have had enough of crushes. Waste no tears in heartbreaks because your young heart can only take so much scars.

Being a teen is an opportunity given by God that you should cherish because you only get to be one for a few years of your life. Indeed, proven and tested it is. Yet, be careful to whom you open your heart because they could make uncontrollable changes to your life. Unlike some part of your body that could repair itself after being damaged the heart has no internal mechanism to self regenerate . Once it’s wounded the injured part will never be ” as good as new”.

In the middle of the night you could sometimes slip out of sleep, reminisce the past…and the person who made you fall in love makes you smile. However, it is only the moment that gave you the feeling of being loved inspires you to return to your dreams to continue an exciting life in the coming tomorrows.

As Blaise Pascal said, ” the heart has its reason that reason does not know” . The brain sometimes let go of the heart to make its own decisions. There could be conflicting forces between them and since it’s the heart that fall in love and gives meaning to existence, the brain let it have its way to the human self. Pure as it is, though how could you expect a brainless cardiac cells to be righteous. Be careful to whom you give an access to your heart’s selective barrier. The transporters will help you for it is their job to do so. The transporters definitely know how to choose the ligands that they would allow to legate themselves. This is how mysterious our cells works. However, in real life some things got so complicated that we sometimes mixed up true happiness to just a simple pleasure.

Falling in love is such a glorious experience and whoever would dare to contradict may have not fallen in genuine love. Though, have you asked yourself in your lifetime with whom you should fall into. Everyone has its own set of values, priorities and future plans. These could affect the way you decide, in addition are those things that “nature and nurture” taught you. And here are some that you could have best in your list.

GOD.

He is the only perfect person in the world who loves with the purest intention. Knowing and loving him is like heaven. Opening every single entity of yourself to him would simply make the best out of you. Could you feel serenity, love and eternity every time you have a date with him? There is nothing in this world that could give you such feeling! It’s eternal. No matter what the future has to bring you could never be uprooted to the good things.

He is simply one of the bests that you could allow to pass the selective barrier. With him you could never be wrong.

YOU.

You, as in yourself. Loving yourself is not selfishness. It is just that you could only share something that you have. How could you share love if it’s not even in you? When you love something you will never dare allow it to be destroyed or harmed. Learn to love –the best gift from God–yourself. A beautiful world could only be created in the heart of a person who’s contented, gay and full of love.

FAMILY.

They are the first one to make us feel loved . They taught us what love is. In every turn that we take they are the drivers that lead us to the right direction. How could a family who raised us could destroy us?

If you don’t fall in love with them, maybe it’s because of the fact that they don’t taught and made you feel so. Then it could be a dysfunctional one if they did not pass the barrier that they have built to existence. Family is the first group of persons who will never let us go, without giving a good fight. It’s because of the fact that we belong to the same tree that every part should be taken care of.

ANYONE, NOT EVERYONE

Yes! You could feel love for anyone. Hmmm…it sounds good, yet will it feel good? I will share you some of the best thing I have discovered when it comes to loving people. Believe what they say, yet never let them come to your senses, unless you prove them to be true. Genuine things get better through time. So time indeed is the best way to know. When it comes to relationship don’t let haste bring you to its current. Try to counteract and let your two feet with God’s guidance carry you to the best persons you could allow yourself to be bonded. There are a lot of people who could make you fall in love, however only few could make it last through the years. They are the ones worth falling for.



You have millions of breath to take, billions of heartbeat to have, yet you have only one life to live– share yourself through loving other people. However, the Philippine “online community” we are referring to is rather small when compared to the bigger part of the population illiterate of online technology. Access to the internet is invariably present in urban communities but only few people are utilizing it much in depressed areas wherein development is nowhere to be found. Therefore, those who have access to the internet should learn how to utilize it effectively.
