This is just a bit of "poetry" I wrote to get my mind working for an annoying research paper that I'm struggling with. Sometimes, writing a quick creative fiction piece helps me out.

Useless Struggle

Another day that starts in the usual way
staring at the bright screen, waiting and hoping
another moment of genius will occur. The waiting,
the agonizing,
the fighting to put words on a page and struggling
for something potent ...

Today is one of those days that I don't want to do anything that I normally do. I especially don't feel like writing... which is exactly why I'm writing right now. I will never improve if I follow my cranky urges. If I truly want to be a writer, then I better darn well write.

So. What kind of story should I write next? I'm totally stuck at the moment. I'm in the process of character sketching a couple different stories but they're turning out to be way more complicated and messy ...
