Hey there I'm Coldground93 or just coldie or cold. In my opinion, this season's lineups are not that good (some beg to differ) so it left me no choice but to withdraw to the Manga World. And while I'm here I found some interesting mangas that I would like to share with you all... I would also share what I think about each of them. I might be bias so don't rely on them hahah :D
so here it is::::
1.) Aphorism
http://s3.mangareader.net/cover/aphorism/aphorism-l0.jpg
Plot: Naraka High School, is a seemingly normal school. However, unknown to the public is the cruel truth of what really goes on in the school's halls. Rather than studying, students are forced to struggle for their very survival. And the strong bonds of friendship may be the only difference between life and death.
My thoughts: First, I didn't expect it to be gory. You could compare the gore factor to Deadman Wonderland. Second, their abilities. I think it's kinda cool. Choosing a word for yourself and using it to battle. I might not make any sense right now but if you read it, you'll know. Lastly, the story. It's a typical action, school life shonen manga. It only has 14 chapters so the plot isn't so grim yet but some foreshadowing indicates that it'll be.
2.) D-Frag
http://s4.mangareader.net/cover/d-frag/d-frag-l0.jpg
Plot: Kazama Kenji likes to believe he is something of a delinquent. Moreover, others seem to like to agree that he is. Of course, Kenji's gang finds their way to a group of four not-so-normal girls - Chitose, Sakura, Minami and Roka - and all at once, whatever reputation he may have, is nothing compared to the outrageous behaviour of the girls. Shanghaied into joining their club, what will happen to his everday life from that point on?
My Thoughts: The story is just the everyday life of Kazama Kenji with the eccentric members of The Game Creator Club.. (but they're really not making any games). But don't let it fool you. This manga is hella crazy. The craziness is SHAFT quality I tell you, SHAFT QUALITY!!! *ehem* so anyway I recommend this to anyone looking for a good laugh.
3.) Enigma
http://s4.mangareader.net/cover/enigma/enigma-l0.jpg
Plot: Haiba Sumio is a student at a Tokyo High School with an interesting ability... He occasionally falls asleep and wakes up with premonitions of the future written out on his "Dream Diary". With this ability, Sumio helps out people in trouble before anything bad happens, until one day when his peaceful life completely changes.
My Thoughts: Most of you surely know this since it came from Weekly Jump. I would say that this is a mind-battle manga. Using Sumio's and his allies` talents, they overcome any obstacles in their way. on the side note, Their talent are really creative (except for the future predicting). I applaud Sakaki Kenji-sensei for this. The manga currently has 45 chapter and it's only the 1st arc and start of the 2nd. If you like Death Note, you might want to try this out.
4.) Absorb:Ability
http://s5.mangareader.net/cover/absorb-ability/absorb-ability-l0.jpg
Plot: Japan wields the power of a new form of influenza so lethal that only one person out of a million can survive an infection. Kazuma, a man able to withstand the infection of the unknown virus, "Cherubim [kerubimu]," has obtained the power to save his twin sister from facing the influenza! While Kazuma saves other people's suffering by using his new power, he will also encounter many surprising and painful things… A serious and comedic story of new abilities begins!!
My thoughts: The manga only has 5 chapters in it so the direction isn't clear yet. Retro-Virus, a virus that alters and rewrites a person's DNA to transfrom them into viscous, violent and bloodthristy monstrosities. (okay I exaggerated.) The protagonist Kazuma obtained a power to cure a person infected with retro-virus. In the process, he obtains the power of that person. Base on that I would say that the manga would go to the physical action approach. As I said earlier, it only has 5 chapters so you might want to read the first 3 chapters and wait for more release. I don't think I have something to compare Absorb:Ability in my list
5.) Saint Oniisan
http://s5.mangareader.net/cover/saint-oniisan/saint-oniisan-l0.jpg
Plot: Saint Oniisan is slice-of-life or divine-life, tale of Jesus and Buddha as they try to experience the modern world, in this case, Japan. The manga places a funny twist on religion, attitudes, culture and customs in Japan through the eyes of Jesus and Buddha.
You see Jesus and Buddha experiencing Asakusa, public baths, theme parks, and the internet. Throughout the manga, we get a little history of their divine greatness only to see their apparent insignificance in modern Japanese society. Suffice to say, before people can recognize that they’re actually Jesus and Buddha, people think of them as someone who looks like Johnny Depp or a guy with a button on his forehead. For real.
My Thoughts: The plot says it all, What if Jesus and Buddha try living in modern day Japan. Some people might find this manga revolting, insulting, disturbing etc. but it only aims to make us laugh so cut it some slack. You could compare it to Arakawa Under the Bridge.
6.) Iris Zero
http://s2.mangareader.net/cover/iris-zero/iris-zero-l0.jpg
Plot: In a world where every boy and girl has a special power called Iris, Toru who, as a result of not having any kind of special power, was bullied from a young age, lives by his motto: “low exposure” – to live without standing out. But his peaceful school life changes when he receives a certain "Confession" from the schools most popular girl, Koyuki. His motto begins to shake!!
The school fantasy story that shakes the heart begins with their meeting.
My Thoughts: I actually found this manga a few months ago. I would say it's really interesting. The Iris, they're awesome I wish I had one :D . You might find some things unclear like "where the hell does Iris come from?" . So if you like baka-test, you might like this
that's it. If I find more, I'll add it here
