Sunrise has announced the latest Gundam anime as “Kidou Senshi Gundam AGE,”
and Gundam otaku of both sexes are aghast at the fact
that there will likely be no more bishonen or bishoujo to onanise over…

The anime is set to air in October,
and as can be seen from the promotional material released so far,
appears to be aimed at younger viewers (in fact the series is being handled by
Level 5 boss Akihiro Hino, best known for Inazuma Eleven) :

This has all aggrieved 2ch no end:

Where to start... Gundam: The kiddy program no one will watch except hardcore fans, who watch it begrudgingly.

Once they are done with this crap, which will fail to meet an ordinary anime length like the original, except this is really really bad, they should work on something a little more seinin and more realistic and down to earth aka something good. Too bad it is too late for this series already...

This series, just as a concept, excluding the craptacular art, could only be decent at best, considering there would be too much character changing. Now, after seeing the trailer, I will revise my statement: it can only be crap at best.

maybe the story will be good that's what i thought when i saw the preview but the only thing i still hate are the character designs especially that fat mechanic and goggles kids the others are little tolerable but still doesn't compare to the previous character designs.

The gundam series is known for it's great plotline coupled with seriousness of the issues around war. But with this you would think they kinda moved in the opposite direction, they should have just improved the U.C. timeline or the others for that matter, XD

Hmmm... Actually this news is already around for some time now. All major Gundam community is really in an uproar about this. But let me get one thing straight. Lets not judge it yet. Truth is the Gundam franchise already had it share of aiming for the "Kids" before. SD Gundam series is one of them. But even the "serious" Gundam series has also come across the line of "Not a Gundam". I wont cover this here though.

Anyway most people I knew agree when I say this... Lets not Blame the Gundam franchise but rather the "Politician" who is wrecking havoc in the anime/manga industry as of late. This "People" are influencing the anime/manga we love. So don't be surprised if certain animes/mangas we know turns out like this.

This definitely looked more kiddish than the other gundam series. The drawing style looks simpler and the storyline doesnt seem to be as complex as the other series. Maybe they are trying to target the kids this time? But still i will definitely watch it because i'm a gundam fan

It looks like for kids but still gundam and its to bring in new kids into gundam...I didn't like Gundam 00 at first and know I do so why not give this a try later on.

Digimon + Gundam? Err... I'm still watching this since the units are still "normal" in size. The only show I won't watch is SD Gundam Force. As a hardcore Gundam fan and a walking Gundam Encyclopedia, I MUST watch Gundam Age.

Considering G-Gundam was one of my favorite series in the Gundam franchise im not as woried as i could be. While a bit more adult themed than this seems... It was one of the cheesiest shows ive ever watched. I vote reserve judgement till we get to watch it :)

Although I only fancy myself as your average Gundam fan... When you proclaim yourself a a Hardcore and walking encyclopedia of gundam you really should also watch the SD ones. Why? Simple they are still Gundam. I've watched every Gundam series there is to know that's for sure. Some people don't even know they actually exist. A good example of this is the 5 episode especial of Gundam Wing that was never shown. I first encountered it when I was watching streams back in crunchy roll... back before when they did not sold-out. It wasn't even subbed but still I watched it. Why because I like Gundam. I watched the SD ones too. Some are good even though they are really out of this world. Some Gundams are real failures. Like the Sentinel Gundam franchise. Others fall short after a good 1st season or two. I read all the Gundam mangas and graphic novel's I can read translated or not. Do research about them and read articles about them. To me being a Gundam fan means giving a chance to the genre. It might end-up you disliking or maybe you might like it but what counts is you watched it because you a "Hardcore Gundam Fan". Note though I'm just a regular Gundam Fan ok.

Anyway as for Gundam AGE or Advance Generation as I said before lets give it a try. Sure the art is different most especially if we compared it to the bishounen looks of the previous gundam series, but lets not forget why we do really watch a Gundam Series... It's all about the story and how we can relate to the struggles of the characters. Not just about a giant mech on a destroying frenzy but the whole story itself. So guys just try it and judge it after finishing it. That's what a good reviewer or critic should do.
