Favorite Game Genre

I'm just being a curious cat and wanting to see what genres are more heavily liked.
Obscure, and possibly lesser known genres are of course allowed, as are retro types.

For example, my favorite genre has always been and will always be the bullet hell shoot-em-ups. It is also one of my best genres.
(Favorite and best are not always the same, if yours is different by all means tell your best genre as well)

Hehe... My favorite is the (unfortunately) unpopular RPG, preferably JRPG. I also enjoy strategy games and the mix between the two SRPGs, not that I'm any good at them though...

As for my best genre... I don't have any really... I'm kinda like Misao from Lucky Star who isn't really good at games but enjoys it all the same, although I do understand competitive terminology and logic. I can list my worst though: FPS, Strategy (even though I like them), Fighting, action, adventure, etc I like patients for the slower games, but I also lack reaction time for faster games, which really leaves bad at everything.

As for me, my favorite genre is rpg since I get to personalize my character sometimes. My favorite rpg game would be Harvest Moon lol I'm not much of a gamer and so I totally suck at almost all game that's why I got into rpg because I find it more fitting to my gaming skills.

I would really like to delve more into the work of gaming but it's rather intimidating, haha. My experience with gaming is admittedly limited, but I do enjoy role-playing games. With a few exceptions I adore the Final Fantasy series as well as the Zelda games. I've played a few of the Resident Evils game also, but I'm not sure what they're classified as.

Even though I own an XBox 360 and Playstation 3 the last system that I owned a decent amount of games for was the Super Nintendo (which I sorely miss because it was awesome) :D

I have 2 favorite genres of gaming. FPS (First Person Shooter) and RPG (everyone knows what that means lol)

I have played Battlefield for years.I have played/modded(changing map stuctures)/admined servers for this series for the last 7/9 years. Its probably why I love FPS so much..

I love the Final Fantasy series. Also the Lunar games. Star Oceans, Chronotrigger, and golden sun games. I have played other RPGs but those I have played the most and multiple times.

I like indie games on steam. stuff like machinarium and Nikopol. Not sure what genre they fall under.

i liked to play rpg and after that i got hooked on RO and later WoW
but now i play mostly pocket legends(mmorpg for cellphones) or jewels :3

I love RPGs the most. Classics like Chrono Trigger, old Final Fantasy games and Super Mario RPG.... and more. Fun ones like the original Zelda games and Mario games are epicly good and I still love them. Then multi-player games come in next for me.

But there are some elusive and killer indie games with some arcade aspects or tower defense or something. Those I find I come back to play as well as multi-player games the most.

Currently I'm looking forward to Dungeon Defenders. It looks like it'll be quite addictive =D

RPGs, and action RPGs, meaning, Fallout and Mass Effect type game, with interactive plot and action based game mechanics. But I also love traditional RPGs also. Secondly comes adventure type, with linear plot. What really matters is the atmosphere. I play sometimes shooter games with my friends, but mostly when I play with others, it is Magic the gathering, duels of the planewalkers.

Survival horror games are amazing, though! And anything with puzzles/strategy. When the two combine, my mind just gets blown. I really enjoy them.

I'm not a big fan of FPS, though. I'm kind of aggressive and impatient so I'm pretty much always in out in the open trying to kill things <__< I'm really terrible at them.

JRPG like Final Fantasy series (VI, VII, X) or Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn,
Strategy RPGs with my absolute favorite beeing Dragon Force for Sega Saturn (most of you haven't even heard of it)
DnD based RPGs (I've played EVERYTHING that was created by Black Isle/Bioware)
Action/Fighting/Shooting RPGs (Deus Ex, Fallout, Mass Effect series, Jade Empire)
MMORPGs (Allods, D&D Online, Atlantica, DC Universe Online) even though I don't spend too much time on them.

I also love strategy games, especially Starcraft, but sadly I'm not very good at them due to poor hand-eye coordination I guess.

Of course my games list goes far beyond what I have named here :-)

Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter nights are two really nice examples of more open RPG games =)

To be honest my best genre would be turn based games because i like to study attacks in advance, i'm not good with anything that revolves having fast reactions, my favorite genre would be strategy games, especially the ones where you can make your own maps like Stronghold but i also like rpg's :)
