Will it matter when the original studio left after rounding out the subpar series with a prequel but will any of my criticism matter because it will have multiplayer and some incredibly thick people will think multiplayer will make up for the fact that the writing sucks a rusty fire hydrant?

Okay maybe they MIGHT do this one better. Halo: Reach pulled a few surprising examples of blending storytelling with gameplay which is one of the things that makes Valve games great, but i strongly doubt they can make that magic strike twice when it's going back to Master Chief and when the Covenant is basically dead. Maybe if they abandon Master Chief, publish a title where you see how the Covenant came to be and focus more on the expanded universe and not the main series.

And maybe Atari will release a good game while we're at it. Unlikely. Here's hoping that Eidos can resurrect the Deus Ex and Thief franchises and remind people that FPS titles can have more depth than the crypto fascism of current titles. There hasn't been a good console title released in-- oh wait, Red Dead Redemption was actually good, and Catharine sounds interesting. Sorry, i'm just moping. Ignore Halo 4 unless it proves itself to have more depth than previous titles, especially since we may have a chance to see the return of other classic Ion Storm and Eidos titles like Deus Ex, Thief, and System Shock. Hell, now that Bungie and 343 Studios are separated, maybe we'll see a return of Oni and Marathon. That might be interesting. Maybe there is a silver lining to the dark cloud of people thinking Halo is a classic.
