Looking for your opinion on whether if for example you have many games to play or say accounts in the internet to have at least 1-2 common passwords? Downside is if someone knew, you can easily get hacked on all accounts.
Or many passwords, downside is that if you can remember all of them.
Gamers what method do you use in your various gaming world, how do you remember them or do you have a note that contains all passwords. Haha keep it safe if you have.
Post on OS Gamers.

Yeah different passwords are going to be better but it can be tough to keep them all straight. If you go that method I'd recommend using an encrypted password storage program. I've always used key-pass to store important passwords. Something as simple as a text file with hints would work too if you aren't paranoid about something snooping around.
Here is a link to the program I talked about. Keypass (http://keepass.info/)
Personally I like to do variations of a similar core password i.e. add symbols or numbers.

I usually do the same password, or variations of it. But it isn't like I haven't thought of backup passwords for a worse case situation.

I don't think that 1 or 2 passwords (and variations of it) is a hindrance. Actually, it's better that way so you can remember all of them. For my case, to compensate for that I use different email addresses (they're easier to remember). Downside is it only applies to sites that require email addresses not usernames. To be safe, just list all of your passwords and their corresponding usernames. ;)

I have the same password and username on all my accounts including OS. /heh
In that way I won't forget it at all.
But when I'm hacked goodbye to all my accounts /omg

I have all of my passwords written down in a .txt file.
However, it's locked with a huge-ass encrypted password with symbols, numbers, and letters. I keep the password on my PC, but only I know the encryption method.

i only use 2 password, either capitalized or change the number( because my password has both number and letters)

I have a lot of passwords and I only have 2 accounts using the same password. I have so many of them that I really no longer remember some of them but I have this small notebook where I write all my user name and passwords and on what/where I used them so when I need them I just check on this notebook :D.

Though I should have more, I usually rotate about 5 passwords depending on length, allowing of special characters or not, ect. I know I should have more, but since I review online games, it is easier for me to rotate a few than making a thousand.

I only have 2 passwords that I use, never got hacked (apart from Runescape, but who cares)
I have made numerous alterations for the passwords though, so I can remember but use them on hacked accounts.

I'd say pick one or so(how ever many you wanna remember) and never click the "remember my password" thing and never let anyone know what your password is. Dont let people do anything on your accounts and sign out of them before you walk way from your computer/laptop

I have a few that I generally use and what they are used for is usually pretty genre specific, gaming or school or email or etc. The easiest thing to do is to make passphrases as they are generally more than long enough and dictionary attacks on a sentence does not work as it is a series of words in the dictionary not just a single word. Problem is they can use rainbow tables to find out your password if their is a value known for it in the algorithim that is used to translate the password.
I would say the best things to do are, rotate your passwords, Change them about idk once a month or so, use letters and numbers at least. If you want it harder make it letters, numbers, at least 1 capital letter, at least one special character (ex. # or $ or & or whatever you like), use a passphrase (which is a sentence) (ex. IAmScaredOfHackers), and even more difficult would be a passphrase with capitals, numbers, and special characters. (ex. 14mSc4r3d0fH4ck3rs!) if you can use a space " " in a password (which might be allowed by a site) these also make it a lot harder for the password to be cracked/hacked.
What I do is I have a variety of passwords, usernames, and email addresses. I write down all of them on sheets of paper of what they are and where they are used. Then I take those sheets of paper and I lock them in my father's safe. I know this is secure because he doesn't want anything to do with my "stuff" and only he knows the combination to his safe. So if I ever forget a username and password I can recover them easily but no one else can.

I have three passwords, two of which are only for social networking sites and one that is used for everything else. I mean everything. If I'm ever hacked, it's gonna suuuuck.
