Final Fantasy XIII-2 will arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year in Japan, Square Enix announced at its production department event today. According to a translation of the event by the blog Andria Sang, the game will be a direct sequel to FFXIII and will be directed by series veteran Motomu Toriyama.

Wonderful, time to finish Chapter 10 of FFXIII that I have been procrastinating on for quite some time. I hope more videos will be released soon to see if they changed the gameplay at all.. FFXIII was kind of a let down in the gameplay department compared to the other FF games. Graphics and Music were amazing as always, though. [=

I only have one hope for this sequel and that's to make up for the noticeable fair stroyline of the 13. I'm more concerned with plot rather than the graphics (Not that I'm saying that the graphics are bad..... It's awesome!!).

Well, a sequel just means more Lighting... XD

Just hope that the release won't be around Fall.

I agree with Torrent. I wasn't a big fan of ffxiii. I still played it but I just had this feeling that it was lacking something. I personally think it was lacking that adventurous feel. The game was very linear for at least the first half of the game if not more. You couldn't just go off and explore or grind or whatever. Also many other games have you interact in the cities to buy upgrades and weapons but in 13 it was all very much done at the save points. Just felt like I was being led around while playing instead of the usual feeling I get of exploring and discovering things on my own at my own pace.

This is just my honest opinion. I still think the game is good overall just not one of my favorites from the FF series.

Well I heard that square enix is going to improve the ff13 sequel. So it might be better that the previous one in game play but I'm not sure about the story though.
