Well in the first ep of AB Specials! you can see that he stayed there and rumors at the school say that he was "waiting for someone".

Really this could be asked in the SB, and people would probably answer you. But same either way.
Otonashi also disappeared after Kanade disappeared, then some trace of them meeting was shown. So, this led to a lot of disputes over whether the both of them were actually together in the end. Ya thought I'd try to explain.

I'm not sure how many times I have to repeat this before I can stop, lol. No, there isn't going to be a second season. If ANY news of a second season leaks, it will make front page news, you have my word on this. Right now all that's confirmed is that Angel Beats has a lot of unsatisfied fanboys/girls who want more. I'm not one of them, I personally loved how Angel Beats ended. If they use the original ending, it's impossible to make a new season without making a whole new cast... which wouldn't be the same. If they used the ending from "Angel Beats - Another Epilogue" then yes, it's possible to make a second season from that, but it would feel too forced, and couldn't compare to the first series. I truly hope they don't decide to tarnish the first season with a sub-par sequel... that would just be bad.

otanishi disappeared soon after kanade... the special episode called "another epilogue" means to say another ending... or alternative ending... it doesn't have anything to do with the season 1 i think... just like when you watched clannad afterstory when they made another story for kyo and tomoyo... there are rumors about season 2...
