View Full Version : What's your idea of a perfect date?

My idea of what is perfect has changed over the years. When I was in my teens it was roses and candle-light and soft music, the whole nine yards that this world tries to sell us on
Now I would be happy with really good conversation and no groping (unless I wanted it of course)
Would like to hear your thoughts

I guess my ideal date would take place in a peaceful setting
and yeah I agree that just having a good conversation is nice :D
because I know that if I am with someone that I like, my mind would be soooo blank. So.. I'd be completely happy with a normal conversation because they usually don't happen >_<

ideal date before is a few hours playing and having a good time in the arcade.
then it became watching movies going to concerts or museum and dining out.
But now comes to think of it....
the simple things like strolling to the beach or park having coffee and stargazing.....
is HEAVEN for me! :emhh03:

I don't know if its perfect but this is what I thought of for now.
We would be walking in a sandy beach, the setting would be a sunset and we would be bare footed, talking while cold shore waves hit our feet. As evening comes, we would spread a mat in the sand and have a simple dinner. Then just lie there and admire the cloudless night sky filled with stars or admiring the full moon reflecting the calm sea. Spending my time with her and listening to the sound of the waves...

Hmmm Chiva ... your still young and I hate to disillusion you, but ....
After the sun sets there will be lots of insects so no lying down in peace
If you manage to lie down for sometime, then the sea sand gets into places you never knew existed and the salt water will tangle up her hair and make her irritated
Finally, hope yr girl is a quiet one, coz with an average female, you probably wont get to hear the waves above the sound of her chattering :16:

dont tell us its wrong K..
we grew up in the beach and those things never happened to us.
besides chiva's ideal date, i think walking around after lunch or dinner and a movie, cliche yes, but not in a mall.. at home.. i prefer my place..
so its home cooked food and movie marathon plus walking around the village and hang out near the pool garden..
uhm.. "a good conversation" cant be considered a date. thats like a normal activity of ppl dating.. a date should be an extra special thing

Hmmm ... let me clarify the "good conversation".
I think its more applicable for women, but as you get older you get tired of men always wanting to grope you and try to turn the conversation to sex to try and see if they get lucky. Or worse, there you are, beautiful sunset, perfect dinner set on the beach, and your both looking at the sky .... with nothing to say!!! Yikes!! Or worse still, you find you have nothing in common to talk about. But if you can find a good conversation, even if your sitting on the steps of a theatre coz you went too late and they ran out of tickets, it could turn out to be a great date!! As Achronycalchaos said ... even doing nothing can be the best if its with the right person
PS: Sri Lanka is an island approx. 60 miles wide and 400 miles long. Every where you go there are beaches and I grew up spending every free moment on the beach, but sometimes what we think are are romantic ... can in actuality be a bit annoying. Ex. Making love under the stars on a blanket? Painful ... both from the rocks and the insects... trust me :4:

exactly.. sitting, standing eating etc... conversation is needed.. therefore its not considered as a date. altho its a part of it. its like saying "breathing is a good date". you need to breath to have a date.. same with a conversation.
and yeah.. let me reiterate "those things never happened to us". im not saying you've never been to a beach, im saying you just never been to ours..haha
if in your point of view its annoying, its sweet and memorable to us, and in my opinion a beach date is timeless.
so i'd say "the sum is greater than the parts".
a date will always have an awkward or slow time
moments leading form one thing to another makes it memorable
@Achronycalchaos - awesome date

Dinner at some resto (can be fastfood), movie then timezone or arcade after.
Or a day at an amusement park. awesome!

i agree in your opinion.. and i also add.. that every person had a unique's character.. and even though the place for the others are not quitely romantic but the others is this awesome place and although simple but that was great.. as long the two couple get along and enjoying the momentum of the atmosphere which is most important.. :44:

When I was a kid in the midwestern US ... one of the favourite places to sneak off to and try out sex for the first time was the loft part of a barn .... where they store the hay bales .... talk about painful and bugs ... yikes, a few rocks and a little sand would have been a big improvement .... desu~
Seriously, so long as it is with the right person, doing anything/nothing can be the best thing in the world ....

XDDDDDDDDdd omg that made me lol irl, nice one Bindu!!
Well never like TOO cheesy crap o.o so I guess...
The main needed ingredient after I read all the posts to me seemed to be that you first have to have the magic combo: the right person+good mood (and conversation).
After I know that... a neat date would probably be uhm...
long walks in a quiet part of the city or in a nearby forest, eating at a nice fast food or a restaurant with a piano, going to the amusement park, an festival or an carnaval, hanging out to watch a movie just the two of us... etc
And I agree to the not groping unless both want it ~_~ although the movie thing is risky in some cases lol

An ideal date for me would be to spend a day with him somewhere in nature.
Somewhere secluded.
Or perhaps spending the evening at each others houses watching movies/anime all night.

A perfect date? I don't really know, I'm very bad with this type of topic.
I think a date is perfect enough if it went smoothly asnd happily. Sound too simple? If it is them I'm sorry, personal-romance doesn't exist in my life.

I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion.
Getting along and having fun is the best possible date since kissing gets tiring after a bit.

I dunno.
But maybe it's not that much fun if it's too grand.
Maybe a stroll in the park or a good meal would be satisfactory.
But a fancy date at a restaurant with a great overlooking view one romantic night by the sea would be classified as "perfect."

i don't want a very serious date..
i like roaming the city whole day, visiting a zoo, or something not-so serious and quiet..

While it is fun go on dates and do neat stuff like zoos, movies, sporting events, eating or whatever ... my perfect date when I was a youngster was to take someone who I wanted to be with and a blanket to one of the parks that overlooked the city and the river and just sit, talk, touch and just generally be with that person for as long as I could. It is this kind of one on one personal interaction that you will remember the rest of your lives.

hmm, a 5-star restaurant reserved only for the two of us, while an orchestra is playing, that's my ideal date... If only I had the money to treat her to something like I would, but at the moment cash flow is slow... another would be a long road drive to wherever my motorcycle takes us, (very romantic, while I'm driving, she hangs on to me from behind). ^^,

- Not farting during the dinner for two
- Not acting like a complete nut-case in front of your date
- Limit the amount of stare when we talk
- No bad breath when you whisper in her ear
- No traces of food left after eating dinner
- Talking about interesting topics other than anime..lol

The perfect date is having a good time with your soulmate. It doesn't matter where you are or when it will be. As long as you can be yourself and you can enjoy each other's company, then everything will go perfectly fine. Yes, conversations are important as well, but long silences can be nice too.

Okay, perfect date as a noun or as a verb?
As a noun, it'd be with a guy whom I met while one of us was not sober, whom I crept intensely over Facebook, and played a game of 20Qs with over texting. I wouldn't have it any other way! ..I'm kidding.
Anyways, as a VERB, it'd be.. just hanging out. Talking and stuff. I don't care where we go. Just as long as we're alone and away from society. Ahaha ;3

something that you'll both enjoy.. :D
something unforgettable and fun.. and while it is something you enjoy, I would also appreciate it if you have time to chit chat, talk about serious things once in a while.. :D

An Ideal and Perfect date huh. hmmmmmmm.
A date for me is spending time with someone you like/love to know more about him/her. What could be more perfect than getting closer to the person you like or love? :)
So I guess, a perfect and date for me depends on someone I'm with, not the place or anything else.
Hehehe. But hey, that's my opinion. I know you guys have their own ideal and perfect date. :))

A date...
but there are different types of date.. damn.
A date to get-to-know each other.
A date that us "just for fun".
A date, perhaps a shopping?
and a date ideally for long time lovers.
As for a typical date, anything is fine... as long as you enjoy yourselves. Under the scorching heat of the sun, under the shivering raindrops, anything is fine.
Just be sure to know what your partner needs and his/her desires.
And, yeah, A PICNIC for a date is incredibly fun and romantic.

I think a perfect date is a date where we stop by different countries for a few weeks. Just the two of us.
