What has anime inspired you to do?

It may seem like a waste of time to some people to just sit and watch anime all the time, but I actually find that anime often inspires me to do things I never would have thought about before.

My very first anime series was Dragonball Z. I've been watching it since I was 10, and I remember it as being the driving force behind me starting martial arts. I have since earned my black belt and won two consecutive world titles in sport karate, and I feel that I owe it mostly to the inspiration I felt from watching my heros in Dragonball Z.

Just recently, I've picked up a love for making beautiful deserts and treats. Along with Japanese, I've been working on my French, and after I recieve my bachelors in film, I am seriously considering attending Ecole Gregoire-Ferrandi, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris to become a patissiere. This, of course, was inspired by the anime, Yumeiro Patissiere. After I started watching it, I gained more and more of an interest in sweets, and began studying them. It's something I never would have discovered that I liked had I not watched the show. ^.^

believe it or not but the anime titled "welcome to nhk" has a great impact on me. being a semi-hikkikomori myself, watching an anime like that has affected me in different ways. even though i don't live a life like the protagonist. but i can relate to him. not having a job, a life, being in front of the computer "almost" all the time, the list go on. having seeing/watching him going desperate in life. i thought to myself if this is gonna happen to me i may as well accept my fate or get a life and job. i was confused and frustrated back then so i turn to my computer just to forget my ordeals back then.

until my computer sends out signs of old age. (i.e video card starting to act up on me) its an old computer, reliable but old. that's the time i took action and seek to find a job. but *sigh* it's hard to find one this days. especially if your 30+ already. but luckily a friend offered me a job. even though the salary sucks but who am i to complain? a job is a job. i was able to save up to buy myself a budgeted customized computer. its powerful enough play a ps2 emulator and other good games i passed up before. since i consider my current job a "part-time job" and not a serious job like call centers et. al. but it helps me to save up money. i am planning to buy a new lcd monitor and a additonal 2 gig ram dd3. after i buy those, i'm planning to "temporarily" quit my part time job just to rest a bit. going on a grave yard shift is kinda hard on the health. not to mention my gaming habits is being delayed all the time.

and so i owe it all to "welcome to nhk" anime. coz it made me realize if i don't take action and get a job/part time job. i don't get a life and have what i aspire to. although after 5 weeks of "work" i'm going to quit and go back to my "no life" and play my pc games every night! nyahahahaha! if i need money again, i can always go back to that part time job. since the owner is my friend anyway ^^

Anime has basically transformed me into someone else,ever since I got into it 4 years ago. Before anime,i'd waste my life just getting through life.I'd wait every month for my dad to give me allowance to buy a new game. Anime has inspired me to do many things. After reading Love Hina,I realized, "Hey,I loved this manga,I want people to read my own manga!" So that kick-started my mangaka career. Watching many more anime,and moving to my new high school with my new anime loving friends truly unlocked my otakuism.

Without anime, I would not be aware of a very unique and interesting culture, and I will not expose myself to other interesting cultures as well. You won't find this anywhere else in the world. There are also many interesting cultures out there (and I'm particularly following European music and French experimental films) but anime really has a special place in me. In conclusion,if not for anime,I would be lost. When people hate on anime,I get really angry,because people are basically insulting me. Anime and manga culture has grown from an interesting and unusual phenomenon to a way of life.

Well, my first anime was Card Captor Sakura (the whole series was screened in my country's kids central on the TV long time ago.), it was one of my most enjoyable childhood memories where i would usually wake up by 10 and eat finish my breakfast and bathe, all before ten so that i could watch that anime. one of my first anime i watched online would be FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood and One Piece, which i watched with my brothers, both animes kind of teached me that i should treasure my friends and family more and induced in some of the values like loyalty and compassion in me =)
