The favorite will definitely vary from person to person, since everybody has their own preference in story, humor, emotional involvement, etc. Asking for the best anime is almost like asking somebody their shirt size to find your own. Theirs will be (usually) completely different from yours.

The only exception, however, is if somebody happens to have the same taste in anime as you.

As for me, it is Minami-ke. I'm a Slice-Of-Life kinda guy! ;]

Disagree. The first half of the season are pretty much fillers and cliffhangers, no way that's going to be the best.

I would only rank K-On at the top (Spring 2009) because the others aren't that great. If there were more Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2 episodes, I would choose that for sure.

Darker Than Black is equally compelling but the writers of the anime were a little more ambiguous and left a little too much to the imagination of the viewer. Still, its a great anime.

An anime fan cannot look over Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bepop, they are certainly at the pinnicle of the art, and were quite enjoyable. Champloo should so get a movie >_<

The romance on spice on wolf is rather slow. id pick something else for romance genre. but i do like it. there was progress when horo showed signs of jealousy towards the sheep girl and even more on volume 3 where they met amati.

well weve already seen a part of it. the chapter "Day of the Sagittarius" was already shown on season 1, i wanna see the looping summer and their trip to the tsuruya's mountain lodge.

If you like "dark", science fiction, mystery, horror, psychological, cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic animes, you should definitely watch it NAOZ XD. The elaborate work is just.. Amazing. Watch it and you'll know what I mean. My all-time favorite anime.

No matter what the answer to this may be, it will be subjective. If it comes down to best anime for me, I would lean more towards movies instead of series. I find it hard to pick from some of my favorites, but it would have to be one of these.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime/ Kara no Kyoukai(well they're in parallel worlds) - It has the strongest eye technique.
Kaze no Stigma - a very unique protagonist.
Full metal Panic! - (it is said to have a hollywood movie starring Zac Efron) probably one of the best.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - a very manly show.
Arakawa Under the Bridge , Hayate no Gotoku , Zero no Tsukaima , Baka to Test Shokanjuu - these made me laugh.
High School of the Dead - This one cheated I'm a fan of a zombie apocalypse scenario so that's why it is here.

Code Geass had some of the most wonderful combinations I'm looking for in an anime, The continuous twist, the character development, action-packed mecha (although I'm not that a fan of mecha), political views and tactics, family feud, supernatural, it even had some comedy, and an epic ending~~ really unforgettable... so far I haven't seen any like it that made me feel so great watching it...

Fullmetal Alchemist is the best anime ever!! xD I was so amazed by it and even more so when the Brotherhood series came out~~ My all-time favourite lol
