Right. So here's a place where I can put down my opinions and stuff. Feel free to respond to what I have to say, and put your own opinions up. I will, of course, demolish any standings you have on your argument if you are foolish enough to contradict me.
I ask that you also put up topics you wish for me to comment on, as even my infinitely wise mind cannot think of endless topics. If you do not wish to publicize your opinions or topics, feel free to PM me.
As I am one person, and one person only, do not take these opinions in offense. I am not criticizing you, but a group of people/a thing. If you want to flame the hell out of me, that's what PM's are for.

---Abortion---
Okay, sure, you can argue that abortion kills off innocent fetuses that had no choice in that matter. I can tell you that so does children being forced to fight wars in Africa. I don't see that kind of public attention on that topic. Then again, I live in America where terrorist attacks were totally not occurring around the world until September 11.
And that's what pisses me off, that people are so blind and ignorant of things unless it happens to themselves. Grow a ****ing brain and squash that elitist bitch attitude.
Dislikes of people aside, abortion is not really that bad compared to a lot of the other shit people do. Ever heard of crack babies? Why not make it a big deal when a pregnant mom goes and do drugs that affect the child? It had a large fatality rate too, and a lot more painful, I'm sure.
But let's not compare it to other things. Abortion should be pro-choice. Babies are not always expected and not always wanted. Birth control is never 100% effective. Sometimes, theres nothing else you can do if you want to avoid a big mess up in your life.
I will agree, it is immoral. That shouldn't stop people from being able to get one. A child is a burden on anybody, regardless of how ready and willing about it. Would you really put that kind of stress on somebody who never really wanted it? A large number of them will be put up for adoption, either way. In the end, nobody wins.
Abortion is bad and good, depending on your perspective. I say it is bad. You might too. However, I can see the potential need for having such a option available to everybody. Just because you think it is immoral, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Hi - I am not replying this post with my opinion as I dont think this is a topic for a thread as it could cause a lot of emotional responses, so this is just to ask all those who do decide to reply, that if this thread offends you in anyway, walk away and pls do not start flaming or posting hateful responses.

Also Kohl - just a clarification - on your statement
"Then again, I live in America where terrorist attacks were totally not occurring around the world until September 11. And that's what pisses me off, that people are so blind and ignorant of things unless it happens to themselves." - I believe this is sarcasm aimed at your own country, as a lot of us have been living under the thread of terrorism for a long time and might get very offended if was not :1:

Although the rule is that we wont moderate any threads in "The Corner", any personal attacks, racism or hatefulness of any sort over power that lea way, so pls be good children and behave, ok?

Mummy will be watching :4:

Hmm, the topic is a sensitive one and while I agree (mostly) it also brings to light the immature way many of these complex topics are portrayed as black and white, right or wrong. Issues like abortion are so many shades of gray that trying to simplify the issue into 'pro-choice' or 'pro-life' is only polarising the issue into a shouting match of who can get more morally indignant about the whole thing.
Truth be told both sides are right... and both sides are wrong. If people are serious about the issue the discussion should be focused on fixing underlying problems.
- A greater focus on Education to prevent unwanted pregnancies
-*and by education I don't mean just sex education, but making sure that schools are funded to provide for and support students to achieve higher learning.
- Social programs for expecting mothers so they don't feel abortions are their only choice
- Community development and alleviation of poverty conditions
-
The truth is that abortion is tied to so many other issues like poverty, education, religious beliefs, personal freedom, crime, community support... etc, that tackling the issue means dealing with the others as well. It is possible for the issue to be worked out, unfortunately people like simplicity and politicians love to polarise issues into a simple 'For or Against' dynamic to get the masses on their side and demonize their opponent.

All that aside, I do have an opinion on the issue... I guess it would be considered 'pro-choice' but that doesn't really express the depth of what I think beyond a superficial level.
I think abortions should be an option available to women, but it should be more of a last resort in most cases. Actually as a male I don't think I really have a right to give more than a general opinion, as it is a very personal and sensitive issue that can only be evaluated by the circumstances of the individual.
