I've always though "break a leg" sounded really bad, but it just means good luck...
In that case, I hope you break both of your legs.

Ah,,, I got a few, mostly they were ones I heard from a friend at University... unfortunately most are a bit too... colourful to repeat (also hard to remember a few of them).
One does stick out though "He was sweating more than a dog sh**ing razor blades" ... don't think about it too much as it is really a horrible saying.
Though learnt about a few sayings, for example "Mad as a hatter" was due to Hat makers in Victorian times being exposed to mercury which caused brain damage and thus 'madness'.
Hmm, most saying seem to be jokes that just kinda caught on in language, the original 'joke' or reason for saying gets lost in antiquity but the saying remains. I often wonder what sayings will be used years from now that could be started now... meh, thoughts for another thread ;)

I believe that one stems from the story in the Bible about the woman giving her last two cents (or whatever they used, I can't remember right now) to the offering at a church. I'm not 100% sure on that, though.
"I don't have the foggiest."
"Go steal a chicken!"
I'll have to think of some more...

There is one in my native Sinhalese language that says
"Archita hal garanda"
Literal translation = Grandmother to clean rice
Its supposed to be a very bad insult (something in the line of 'Go f*** off) and no one has ever told me why!! Wonder how on earth it became a bad insult other than just being simply disrespectful...

Bugger off (leave)

I don't give a flying flip on a rolling doughnut. (I don't care)
She's "hot"... how did that become "pretty" or "cute"
Let sleeping dogs lie. (leave things alone that you shouldn't mess with)

here in the Philippines there is a common phrase that is often said by youngsters..
it's "tatlong paligo lang ang tanda mo sa 'kin" or something like "lamang ka lang ng tatlong paligo"..
it's exact translation is something like "you're just 3 baths older than me."..
apparently it is used to insult people who are better than the speaker, or to someone who tries to intimidate a person..
whatever it's real meaning is, it still doesn't make any sense for me..
even though I always use this phrase when I'm teasing my friends.. XD

"Now that's a horse of a different color!"
In reference to anything sounding more appealing than something else. I don't really get it, though.

"You must have fell from heaven 'cause you're an angel" or
"did it hurt?
answer: what?
"when you fell from heaven" the most cheesiest line ever
-how does one actually fall from from heaven or even survive that fall; that can only be interrupted figuratively.
