52 year old Assemblyman Accused of Spending Public Money On Toaru Majutsu no Index Novel
According to Yomiuri, members of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly have been accused of spending public money for the policy affair research on irrelevant books including porn novels. Among them, Takahashi Masanari, 52 year old assemblyman, was found to have purchased Toaru Majutsu no Index vol.19 and Iruma Hitoma's light novel Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko vol.3. The assemblyman made an excuse that it was a legitimate expense to research the current trend of the world.
Young Ace: Sora no Otoshimono's Minazuki, Enmusu's Seguchi launch new manga's
In the next issue of Young Ace, Sora no Otoshimono (Heaven's Lost Property) creator Suu Minazuki is launching a new manga called Daisuki Desu!! Mahō Tenshi Kosumosu (I Love You!! Magical Angel Kosumosu) with Enmusu's Takahiro Seguchi drawing the actual art. In this modern-day fantasy, a town disappears one day in a sudden, unexplained explosion. Where the town once stood, only an expansive desert ? with falling snow ? remains. Kosumosu is an ordinary girl who was preparing for a birthday get-together for "Raita-oniichan" (who she likes) when her life as a magical angel begins.
In the current Young Ace issue, Morohe Yoshida has launched the new romantic comedy manga Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. The story centers around a middle school girl who has a crush on a classmate, but she has yet to confess her feelings. However, a mysterious entity appears before her one day after she helps some animals at a shrine.

Ah but how much of those sales are for Tokusatsu and how much of the sales are for Anime? I personally don't care about Tokusatsu. The only Japanese dramas I watch are slice of life types; NOT special effects shows. I am willing to bet most of the growth was due to the special effects dramas considering they are the easiest to get into without social rejection. For example, you watch Heroes and its not a big deal. Everyone watched Heroes, hell my Marine Mom and step father, jock room mates, and red neck father watched heroes. But how many people hear you watch anime and call you a nerd for it?
With that line of thought I think most of the increase is from Tokusatsu. At least until I see figures that tell me how much of each grew seperately.
Now they wouldn't be able to say that otaku like us don't contribute to the economy.

I wonder how much that assemblyman spent, maybe 2000 yen tops? I have that much and I don't even have a job. It's not a big enough of a deal to even bother reporting.

Edit: Why was it wrong for an assemblyman to buy a novel lol...
Because he used public money and not money out of his own wallet. It would be as if a Governor went out and bought some comic books on the tax payer's dollar instead of using his/her own money. There's nothing wrong with them buying it, it's all about whose dollar they're spending on it. They're spending your money which should be going towards something that benefits people/improves the city rather than spending your money on entertainment for themselves. "Research" or not, he should have used his own money.

Well let's hope that this will probably satisfy the publishers of manga and keep their attention away from banning online scans.
PS. I lawled at the congressman. " Yeah. This is urh... for research". Owned.

There's a positive side to the news, just show that no one would be sueing anime streaming sites for a while. Also can't wait for the new manga, i really loved sora no otoshimono looking forward to it.
"so thats what they do with out monthly taxes...." good job, anything for anime or manga, otaku's way.(please don't do this)

So what the heck are they talking about anime piracy affecting their sales?
bloodyrein
07-07-2010, 10:48 AM
Well its kinda of a good news that is also a bad news XD
since sales are then that means more animes are gonna be produced the problem is that the value of the DVDs and Blu-rays would possibly go up as well
I might as well say that its quite an equivalent exchange lol
