It's okay. I like all the new features, but it just takes so much memory to operate.:emh25: It makes everything go kinda slow...

I'm using XP as well.
It works well enough for my simple needs.
My nubcake computer probably can't handle Vista anyways.

LOL those who have XP better try Windows 7. Lots of cool features and secrets added. The windows key aint just for opening the start menu anymore. If its combined with other keys like how you use alt and ctrl then thats when the magic happens. And oh by the way you dont need to use the mouse to click on windows in the task bar anymore. Theres the function thats like in RTS games like Warcarft where you assign a group of/a unit certain numbers right? All you do is press alt + a number then it shows the window designated to that number in the task bar. No more messy alt+tab :D
Plus theres aero peek where you can "peek" at other active windows like shall we say your playing a game like ragnarok and your also in chatbox in OS. You can press windows key + space bar then you can peek through your active window. :emh22:

:emh21: latest update on windows 7. You can't play most games that have gameguard on them. It doesnt let gameguard run for some reason.

I will wait for them to make the operating system backward compatible, that would be probably around 2010 when they will officially release it.

I've only heard positive things about Windows 7. What are some downsides to Vista? I think I'll probably use it once I get a new computer.

I have a 2 vistas and a dual-boot XP and Ubuntu Beryl. I have it dual-boot because I use Linux as a "safe-mode" area where I can fix my XP and make random changes in the most safe way possible. Vista's are awesome when you have the requirements for it. I'm just not sure what's so unstable about it. I've had no troubles with it so far. Hopefully I won't ever get any. I've editted my Vistas so it doesn't use that much memory. It's using a very small amount now. Everything runs smoothly and perfectly!!

Windows XP is for everything a person needs to do.
Windows Vista was a good start but then struck complications
Windows 7 is the brand new rebirth of windows itself

lol no no,
Vista had a terrible start, with all the compatibility issues as well as stability with drivers. It wasn't until later that updates fixed many of the issues.
Its because of its horrible start that Vista is looked at as a dud
Linux is for the elite
If you are going into the computer field, either Computer Engineering or Computer Science, you should learn how to use a Linux
Linux is by far the best OS but it requires a more in depth knowledge of computers
I currently have a Win 7 but I might partition so I can use Linux on my laptop as well

you have no ideas what're you saying about linux
because windows just like more GUI interfaces and easier to use than linux or other os ?
what about stability ? customization ? viruses ? cost ? , violating copyright ?
ok if you're windows user and you wanna download IDM with crack !!! you go to some major warez site and search for it you don't satisfy with your DL speed coz file hosted by rapidshare then you go to buy a RS premium
if compare to linux user you wanna download some DL manager with multi thread socket like IDM on ur package manager search for it and install it you don't need to crack or serial thing even RS premium because it's open source software !
so which one is simplest ? and lowest cost ? think about it linux have much more advantages than windows except compatibility , drivers , game stuff
conclusion: Linux is SUCKS FOR PC NEWBIE USER

A MacBook Pro laptop running OS X 10.6.8 Aka Snow Leopard,
An HP desktop computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit,
