Recently (like last week), my internet has gone slow and i can barely load the OS site up on my wired PC. Normally, it's really fast but then, it just went downhill. For example, it took me 15 seconds to load google homepage? However, when i went to my top, i use wireless and it was really fast. Help plz...i still like my PC over my top so i wanna fix my PC.

Note: I bought a new cable wire to see if it's any faster. It was for a while...and then it went really slow.
- The wireless was connected to the same router. So it's not about the places.

A wireless is fast depending on the place
some places have stronger signals than other
and internet can slow down to a wired pc when many people are using the same brand as yours
like digitel or pldt or something like that

Yeah, its just a common traffic that the internet has. It happens all the time over here..XD

uhhhh wired and wireless has same speed its odd that wired is slower than wireless since router give same amount of speed depending on how many users connected to you

possible that your wire have interference you should check it if there is
for the wireless the higher the signal you will gain fast connection, i read yesterday that metal absorb wireless ^^

I have tested both but wired is really faster because in wireless it just about signals... when the signals turn off no more internet XDD

hmm this sounds like an issue i had once recently, it could be a simple reg problem, some viruses or infected programs will do this forceing you to buy some expensive progam to fix it. if you want i can show you some prorams or methods to fix this

i prefer to use wire for stable connection though dont like messy wires laying around the floor

im pretty sure this isent a hardware issue, im almost 100% sure this has to do with a reg issue, though if you can i would try with out the router with a hard line to see if that fixes it

Yeah. I manage to fix it. It's my temp. internet memory thing and cookies...when i deleted it, it took 1 minute to clear everything up!!! FYI, i have a 8g top so it's quite fast i would say. Plus, i think i probably have a virus since my anti virus is cheap so i'm probably buying a norton one soon.

Does anyone know if i install a norton anti virus CD, will it be reusable for another computer? i mean can i install it another time?

ewww why norton there a lot better than norton
as long as its not avast and kapersky they load the anti virus for several minutes before you start using your desktop

What's better? My friend who's dad work in the army told him that because of Norton, computer viruses could not have spreaded out as much as they could. If not for Norton, almost everyone on the daily internet would be affected already.

supposedly the latest version of norton are supposed to be much better (compared to the last few years). i think norton was initially one of the best, but then i think the total internet security as a whole (not the actual anti virus) has not been able to keep up with other companies. supposedly the 2011 version (and i think 2010) is supposed to have pushed norton back up to the top (or at least close to it) in terms of complete computer protection.

For my own opinion: wired is faster because it is direct.

I have also found that a wired connection could be slower than a wireless if you have your signal traveling through to much ethernet cable. The longer the distance the more degraded your signal becomes. I had that issue a few months ago.

As far as anti virus I use avast and AVG. Never have any problems and never have any interference. I also use CCleaner for registry cleans. If anyone knows anything better lemme know.

Ive had that problem too (signal degradation due to cable length). I switched to cat6 (from cat5e) and problem solved!

Use Avast or Avira as antivirus programs...
I use avast and it's great

Actually, in my opinion, wired is faster than wireless. This is because a wireless set up has 2 stages. Mainly from your laptop to your router, and your router to the broadband unit which is connected to internet socket. Since the broadband unit is connected to the internet via cables, You are actually getting cable speeds. However, a wireless signal transfers data at a lower rate that cables do. Even so, the total number of data sent over wireless is sufficient (54 Mb/s to 144 Mb/s). Your internet plan is roughly around 1Mb/s to 15Mb/s or more depending on where you live, so you cannot complain about wireless speeds.

BitDefender is one of the best antivirus their is... Does not use as nearly as much resources as others and simple to use.

my friend too has the same problem, i probably think its just depends on the type of internet connection you are using or where you are located?
