I like to watch the sun rise over the ocean on my birthday. I usually spend the time contemplating what happened in the previous year, and making resolutions that I'm not likely to keep for the upcoming year :D Occasionally I've shared this time with someone else but not often; I like to be alone.

After that I'll go grab a bite to eat a diner, or pick up something from a fast food joint on the way back home. Having stayed up all night, I'll usually sleep for the entire day so that when the sun sets again I'm ready for some more fun. Sometimes I spend the evening with my family at home, sometimes with friends out and about town. It all depends on my mood.

This year, my birthday was pretty bomb. At least, I'm pretty sure it was.

I had a birthday dinner organized by my mom and best friend. I had a lot of awesome people there! After that, we had a house party at my friend's house and everyone got pretty wasted. And then the next weekend, another friend threw me another party and we basically got trashed at her house.

Having fun isn't PURELY about not being sober (haha, it may just be a high school thing) but it's mostly based on who you're surrounded by. I had so0o0o0 much fun at both parties because I had the most amazing people there celebrating with me. Although I don't remember much about either night, just knowing I was probably lol'ing the entire time with friends is great.

The best way I've spent one in the past was probably when me and a group of friends went to Vegas to celebrate turing the big 3 OH. Drinking absurd ammounts of alcohol by the pool, seeing overpriced drag queen shows and eating fancy expensive food makes getting old much easier to swallow. Normally though, I just do dinner or something with the family and then again with friends. This year we did Tepenyaki which was loads of fun. We got a shot of saki every time we caught the food our chef was tossing at us in our mouth. By the 4th or 5th round, we were too tipsy to catch it, but he still treated us to some saki. :)
