View Full Version : Reason to stop watching an anime

Now I am wondering if anyone here tried to watch an anime, but then lost interest because of something within the anime.

I guess I have mine:

On Erementar Gerad, they just put too much romance for an adventure anime. Each episode contained romance related content.

Who else has had the experience of not completing an anime and why?

Yea,, I didn't finish Kanokon and Amaenaidaeyo.
I don't know, but I just had the feeling that I would regret it if I were to continue those.

Naruto and Bleach, although good, the fillers made me loose interest.
me: get to the point already! It has been 5 episodes already about that short fight! stop remembering the past will you?!
anime: next episode
me: UGH!

my reasons:
higurashi no naku koro ni - the first scene shocked me, too bloody and morbid, i didn't last a minute (i don't mind these types of anime, but it's a big no-no for me to see a bashed head on the very first few seconds)
Ghost in the Shell - i don't really get it.

Well i have my reasons, i don't watch anime like i used to, i guess i've had it with all the cool, handsome, smart, quiet, calm, flawless,no emotion, guys and the high pitch, not a care in the world, too shy to confess to ur crush, good at cooking, never serious, always crying, never admits that she loves her crush, jealous when another girl clings or talks to her crush and treats him bad afterwords girls, and most of all they all go to high school, and they never have parents or they are not on good terms I swear its like the same characters in different titles.

There's this one anime called maria holic.
I thought I'd love it but when I watched it I was REALLY bored.
But I continued watching it because I thought something interesting might come up to the point that I even finished it.
But there was nothing. I was like.. EHH?! darn it!!! I regretted it so much. I wasted so much time!!!!!!
From then on I swore to myself that i'll never continue wasting time for such a boring anime.

reasons to stop watching anime: to many clich?s and 'fan'service

i cant remember how many animes i dropped because they use the same old jokes over and over and over again.

for example girls falls from stairs and lands with her bottom on a guy. once is funny, twice is okay, 3 times is *yawn* .. and yet they stll use that old joke in any shallow anime with 'fan'service

for gods sake, use some creativity ...

I also stop watching if the series suddenly gets dubbed with another language. :x

Queen's Blade. Dropped it like a hot brick 1 1/2 episodes in. I couldn't tell what the heck was supposed to be going on in the story aside from the existence of some tournament to decide the next queen or something, and it focused way too much on bare female skin and bouncy giant boobs. I found it excessively annoying. I almost gave up 1 episode in, but I decided to give it a second chance a month later, and only lasted half an episode before I got annoyed again.

actually, its really worth a try. Of course, the first scene might be shocking, but after that the real story starts, and everything is explained properly.

You will get to know that the bashed heads arent that bad, but i dont wanna spoil here :3

I usually stop watching an anime if i am able to predict whats happening next. its just plainly boring if you see two characters and you are able to tell the whole relationship they will be going through in the anime.

koihime musou : incredibly stupid moe humor. Boring me to death.

I stopped watching KissxSis TV after I realized that it was a piece of rotten garbage that makes anime look bad.

I would say more, but I'd rather not waste my energy talking about garbage! After all, it would be quite foolish to have a conversation with your friend about the filthy paper or muddy rag that you tossed into the trash can, right?

I liked Naruto at first, managed to finish Naruto but then Shippuden i finally just couldn't deal with his voice anymore so stopped watching
Still read the manga tho

So i guess just all around annoying nonsensical characters kinda turn me off from an anime

reason to stop watching anime would be it takes reality away from you and make
you fantasized about everything and make you hope and wish for the impossible
and then reality kicks in and makes you forget about everything ahahah that
would be a good reason but that doesn't happen to me so i just watch anime
because its funny

Wish I could stop watching an anime after I find it boring but unfortunately I can't...
If I started something I'll finish it till the end and because of this I endured watching Cluster Edge that bored me from the very first episode and what's worse is that that anime is full of fillers and flashbacks... tchh.. I hate that anime..

If the Ep1 of the anime is not interesting why watch ?

If the anime hasnt any goal or didnt set an sensible ending meaning it ended that doesnt meets its people expectations

Oh. I thought this thread would be like.. "why would you ever stop watching anime (in general)?" I was about to go all philosophical on everyone.

Anyways. Hm.
- Gintama. I watched the first episode and decided not to give it a chance because I couldn't pay close attention. Not interesting enough for me. I'm taking another stab at it though tonight. After I erm.. finish my homework.. :|
- Nana.. for some reason, I can't keep watching that. I'm around episode 7 and just.. can't.. do it. I feel like it's dragging on for me.
- La Corda Doro: primo and secondo passo.. Too boring and mediocre for me. A girl is given the ability to play violin and gets in on all the action with the prestigious students of the school? Nnnnnnooo. Lame.
- Koihame musou.. ugh. I can't. It's weird.

when there is no tension in the story-ie:lot of fillers, talking non-stop, too many people sadden over a tragedy, just people running and fighting without really knowing what are they fighting for (suddenly the main char joins the fight, he doesn't even know what the fight is all about!) and many other reasons...but usually i watch like 4,5 eps to really know whats happening, if its too cliche, i stop watching also...<---lolz, did i sound like too picky? xD

I have a bad habit of starting a show and not finishing it... they're all different, but k-on, inuyasha and FMA are examples of this. I may at some point go on to complete the latter two the best I can but k-on just really, really irks me somehow... the moments of musical creativity are few and far between with constant interruptions of boring nonsense and characters with annoying voices (yui) that I have to wonder why I just sat and watched it.

Gintama [6 episodes into the show and does not find it interesting.] Higurashi no Naku Koro ni [5 episodes and find it too bloody.] Seikon no Qwaser [enjoy fan-service scenes in certain animes. however in this anime, really find it disgusting :vomit:]

every beginning has an end
so finish up what you started and fight till the end so that you won't have regrets and die peacefully

I tried to watch Princess Resurrection, but it seemed like it was going to be something like harem and didn't really had anything that really could catch my eye so I stopped watching it. Seikon no Qwaser is another anime I tried but stopped, I liked the story, but seriously, I don't know how I even managed to finish the first episode. Still I think I'm going to try and look for it but censored, maybe that way I'd be able to watch it.

Also a few month ago I started to read manga and wanted to read something that almost no one reads so I ckicked on the first manga I saw and at first it was interesting, it had a war and some creatures that were half human half animal and so, but then it began with all this love drama and he is the enemy, but he's a good person, and I love him but no I hate him, but no I love him and my friends says he's bad and he wants to kill him... I tried my best, but I just couldn't read it, I don't even remember it's name.

I doubt I will stop watching an anime even if the content sucks. I'll try to continue watching them despite the bad/not so bad content. The only time I will probably stop watching anime is if I mature mentally and take responsibility with my no life situation. That is a big IF. Since it will be a cold day in hell that I will mature mentally and stop watching anime for that matter. :haix:

i've being trying to watch Clannad for the past 2 years (or something like that) and im only on episode 4

Everyone always says that its so great, and its so wonderful, so then i try watching it again and i get about 5 minutes further into an episode and then i lose interest

I dont understand the reasoning behind this at all, i've managed to make it through way more boring and mundane anime than clannad, an example would be Naruto

something just goes off when i watch clannad and i feel the need to stop lol

When a main character's personality annoys me. If I don't like the main character of the show, how am i suppose to like the anime. Kanon is my best example. I already don't like anime where the highschool boy is suppose to be small for his age (hence your really watching an 8 yr old get hit on by highschool girls. But they have him voiced by a girl and his mannerism in just epsiode one was like someone scraping their nails on a chalkboard. I dont mind ecchi animes, some are hilarious, but for some reason his character, by way of voice, personality, and actions, annoyed the hell out of me to wear I couldn't make it through the first episode.

Love Hina. because it was just... so god awful. Every time the guy BREATHED she would beat him up. It made me rage so hard. It was the first time I ever realized that even though I'm a woman, I am DEFINITELY not a feminist. I'm an equal opportunity individual. If a chick hits a guy for a really stupid reason, I feel she needs to be hit back. Maybe not with his full brunt force (unless the dude is hella weak and can barely lift a spoon) but JESUS, I wanted to beat that girl with everything in me, and as I said. I'm a girl. I ...could go on forever on how much I utterly despise Love Hina but that would just make everyone else suffer.

End in point: I stopped watching it due to being tempted to purchase every copy in existence, and set it on FIRE.

There's a lot of reason...
-Agree with tambulance: I wouldn't continue watching a series if it's long running and I haven't had my attention on it from the beginning
-If the series gets boring, like if the story is very common and no interesting points being raised
-No character development observed
-If the graphics is crappy and the story is also crappy >_<
-COntinuous Nonsense talking and talking and talking and...
-Very annoying characters
-Too overrated ecchi, cliche and service scene
-If I invested an emotion to a wrong pairing (the canon pairing isn't the one I like...)
-If a character I like isn't given much attention :(
-If a character I hate is given too much attention... lols...

There's a lot of titles I dropped because of those reasons... >_< I'm waay too much picky lately...

Melancholy of Haruhi... gets BORING especially at this "brilliant" joke in the second season where I had to watch one episode over 8 times cuz somebody got lazy and thought it would be funny to do something like that. -_-"

I also stopped Seikon no Qwaser, reason: Innapropriate boob usage. If you get this many boobs into an anime USE IT WISELY dont make them tools... they have a different purpouse...

damien50
09-08-2011, 10:26 AM
-Slow and unengaging pace (Ergo Proxy)
-Similar to DBZ with excessive power ups (Bleach)
-Too much hype to be good (Haruhi)
-Copy and paste harem
-unbearable art
-crappy arcs! - Bount arc and beyond in Bleach - Thriller Bark arc in One Piece

I skip past fillers for the most part and that's only if I'm really into the manga and know the animation will be even better.

-They become boring
-Contain a lot of fillers
-and when the animation is not good at all.............

sevennights
09-09-2011, 02:39 AM
I stop watching when:
-> the story becomes too predictable
-> the characters in the story are not given enough time for development, making them "useless" in sense, even though they were introduced as major characters in the first part.
-> the animation doesn't get my attention (though I admit I watched several series with not-that-good-animation but with superb storyline)
-> there are too many filler episodes.

And I'll stop watching anime when:
-> I lose my connections to the net (nooo~!)
-> it's just a second before Earth gets overrun by Aliens, Espers and Time Travelers and we all get trapped in Endless Eight XD

I /wish/ I would have stopped watching some. It really sucks when you hear a prophecy in the beginning and things turn out EXACTLY as it is foretold would happen. I generally expect something different to happen.

I've stopped watching some that were completely romance. I don't mind it with action, comedy, etc but if it is just straight up romance it just doesn't keep my attention.

When you have a hectic real life because it's either you devote yourself to your family or anime. You can't have them both.

I've just recently discovered something about my preferences that fits into this thread quite nicely so I think I'll share ^_^

I can't believe it took me so long to finally pinpoint the fact that I really, really, really dislike adolescent male (read: boy) protagonists. Now, you might be thinking that excludes me from enjoying a whole swathe of shows, but it actually doesn't.

Shounen definitely isn't a genre I like so it's not that often that I come across this type of protagonist, fortunately. Anime that feature obnoxious, grinning boys who are drawn with an annoying "fang" tooth and who incessantly yell about every little thing automatically make me cringe and look elsewhere. I think it's because I, as a woman, never had to endure being a boy; I simply can't relate. So that type of character is definitely enough to make me stop watching a particular show or at least regard it with extreme hesitation.

Even though I'm really sad to see the show end, Kouki-kun in Usagi Drop tested my patience every week. And lately I've been trying to get into Eureka Seven but the kid protagonist is just . . . ughhh :/

Eden of the East for me......I have no clue why I don't really like it. I should. It has all the elements I like in an anime. But for some reason it just didn't suck me in.

My reasons for me stopping to watch anime would be work and a loss of interest. The latter of the two I pray does not happen to me.

Dropped fairy tail at episode 20

raged when natsu got to kill the demon instead of grey

+ never got drawn into the anime, just not my style. Didnt like the fight scenes either.

also dropped Beezlebub at episode 48 i think, they skipped over major parts in the manga and the animation for the fight scenes were bad, like really bad. not to mention they are making it a gag anime and not shounen like the manga. Hence nerfing the fight scenes /ignoring the serious parts of the manga and making more fillers

If it gets boring that's enough to stop watching but i might try be willing to go through a few episodes to see how it turns out. Another major one is fillers, well everyone knows how annoying these can be at times.

Hmmm... My hobby? Collecting and building "Gunpla" or Gundam Plastic model kits may be fun and all, but building them and making them look very nice is hard work. Takes a few hours to build one, and I have tons of unbuilt kits right now, so I don't get to watch anime that much anymore.

Reasons to stop:
1.It is boring..no.I can handle boring but add it with stupid puns and jokes....tada! I hate it!!
2.Pointless stories... but if add with really funny joke like azumanga diaoh, It would be awesome.
3.Too many fillers!
4.Not that good compare to something that I watch earlier
5. I finished the manga
6. Takes too long to show the point like naruto whic takes like 4-6 ep. just to show the point
This is all that I can think off now

I stop watching an anime if I find the plot is boring and there really is no solid foundations to the anime. I also hate ecchi as many above have said and that usually throws me off an anime because I end up not being able to take it seriously.

also having an annoying or useless main character

i finish pretty much everything else its epic. i mean i even finished... green green *cringe* but usually i will stop at the 10th or so ep when there is 2 eps left because i dont want the anime to end and will come back to it later.

MarilouParu
03-13-2012, 04:47 PM
well seems like i cant finish the long-ones like bleach or one piece... i love them but after a while i get tired of watching the same characters all day long.. i watch about 50 eps then i stop for a month or two and continue later... in bleach i also stop whenever there is a filler chapter (so i stop aaaaaall the time)...
and generally i stop watching an anme when i get bored but i usually try to watch it again after some time.. except from ecchi.. if its ecchi i stop and never touch it again O_o

I stopped watching a lot of stuff either 1)the beginning of the anime didn't catch my interest or 2) boring plot.

Bane13
03-14-2012, 01:14 AM
1 or 2, I dropped from disinterest. Otherwise, it's the usual immature garbage: ecchi, fan-service, harem, misogyny = dropped.

School Days ~ didn't like the start of the story so i skipped it and watched the end xD

03-25-2012, 02:17 PM
Maybe I'll go for Bleach for this one... At first I love to watch the anime of it up until the Hueco Mundo arc where Ichigo finally faced Aizen... then after that, lots of fillers unrelated to the plot, plus when resumed to the main story, the impact of the anime decreases... they just fight and fight, no good story plot to show, unlike up until the Hueco Mundo arc... So I decided to stop watching it, just reading the manga for the sake of finishing Bleach and to kill some boredom...

It happens to me a lot, because I am really picky with the anime I watch. If an anime turns out to have girls (even if it's just two) fighting over a boy's attention, then I lose interest--especially if one of those girls is the boy's sister. If there's excessive fan-service, I'll definitely stop. I stopped watching Bleach when it got to the first major sub-plot (those vampire-like things...) because it just got boring after that.
