Look on the bright side, idiots can't catch colds.:4:
The Common Cold is caused by a Virus...and it's more likely to get a cold during the winter but it's still hard to avoid anyway. Here, some copypast should make you feel better;
Viruses
The common cold is due to a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract. The most common implicated is rhinovirus (30-50%), a type of picornavirus with 99 known serotypes.[12][13][3] Others include: coronavirus (10-15%), influenza (5-15%)[3], human parainfluenza viruses, human respiratory syncytial virus, adenoviruses, enteroviruses, and metapneumovirus.[8]
In total over 200 serologically different viral types cause colds.[3] Coronaviruses are particularly implicated in adult colds. Of over 30 coronaviruses, 3 or 4 cause infections in humans, but they are difficult to grow in the laboratory and their significance is thus less well-understood.[8] Due to the many different types of viruses and their tendency for continuous mutation, it is impossible to gain complete immunity to the common cold.
[edit] Risk factors
* A tendency to touch your eyes or nose. If you touch your eyes or nose frequently, you are increasing the likelihood of transferring viruses from your hands into your upper respiratory tract.[6][8]
* Not keeping your hands clean.[6][8] Cleaning hands with soap and water, or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, has many benefits. First, it helps to reduce (although it does not eliminate) the chance of transferring the virus to your eyes or nose if you do accidentally touch them. Second, cleaning your hands helps to reduce the spread of viruses from surface to surface, thereby reducing the number of "danger points" for both you and the people around you. Anything you can do to help keep others from getting colds will help to break the viruses' chain of transmission, thereby ultimately perhaps keeping you healthy as well.
* A history of smoking extends the duration of illness by about three days.[14]
* A lack of sleep--defined as getting fewer than seven hours of sleep per night--has been associated with a risk three times higher of developing an infection when one is exposed to a rhinovirus than those who sleep more than eight hours per night.[15]
* Low blood vitamin D levels are associated with an increased the risk of getting a common cold.[16] Whether this relation is causal has yet to be determined.[17]
* Common colds are seasonal, occurring more frequently during winter. This is believed to be due to a change in behaviors such as increased time spent indoors putting people in close proximity to one another, rather than to exposure to cold temperatures.[8][18] The traditional belief that "catching a chill" or going suddenly from cool to warm temperatures gives one a cold is largely groundless.
* Humidity may play a role in viral transmission. One theory is that dry air causes evaporation of water, thus allowing small viral droplets to disperse farther and stay in the air longer.

Antibiotics won't do you any good as you are dealing with a virus.
The best thing cold medicine can do for you once got the cold, is to shorten the length of the cold by roughly half a day. And depending on the meds lessen the symptoms, which is really only needed if you really have to be at your A-game.
A average cold lasts around 3 days (at least so I recall).
And as mangahero18 said the most common cause of sickness is bad hand hygiene.
You wouldn't believe how many people gets infected from visiting public bathrooms.
A good advice is, Wash your hand probably! (use soap for god-sake, and wash your hands for no shorter than 30 secs. - trust me it is a lot longer than you think) After having washed your hands don't open the door or turn the water of with using your hands. Either use your elbow or use a piece of paper.
Door knobs in general or something of the most dirty, and somehow some people don't find it necessary to wash their hands after visiting the toilet.

i suggest drinking 8-10 glasses of liquids (preferrably citrus juices) and 1000mg sodium ascorbate (that's 2 capsules) morning and evening, always wash your hands and don't forget to rest. get well soon. Oh and drink vit. C (sodium ascorbate) too even if you're not sick. just to raise your immunity.

Hahaha.. I've been hearing lots of talk about the high temperature there in the Philippines, I'm surprised that you caught a cold.
Its kinda unorthodox for someone to have that in the situation that your in.
I'm sure that your cold is already gone by now but just remember to get tons of rest the next time it happens..XD

I often have nosebleeds during our summer break because I cannot handle high temperature. I also catch some colds. I also got a fever last summer vacation.

Do you often stay in rooms with AC? The change of temperature makes you more accessible for the viruses. And AC's are not the most clean things. A lot of dust, dirt, bacteria and also viruses stay in those nasty things. With every blow of cold air they blow those germs back into the air.
