Probably a good number are - I definitely am. I play the betas of any MMORPGs that come out, but I regularly play WoW - FOR THE HORDE! My XBox 360 doesnt get much usage - I have a bunch of games for it, and for my Nintendo DS, but they only get used once in a while now when I get the itch to use it. I really like the Gundam game - they did a GREAT job on that!

Probably my intuition says that otakus are those people who don't mind spending their time on animes, or japanese idols, or whatsoever, and therefore, since they (we) are so carefree on our time management themselves (ourselves), playing game, which means a waste of time, is (unconsciously or sometimes consciously) acceptable for us so, yeah: Otakus might be gamers as well.

However, I don't find any relations between being an otaku and being a gamer. I have quite a number of gamer friends but not many of them are otakus..
Hmm, But so far I haven't seen anyone who's otaku and not a gamer. Probably because the case of being otaku is not so serious in my place

Same goes for anime, I can't buy a copy of my fave series due to the budget I have is limited to family and my studies, I have to rely on the internet for the latest anime episodes, same goes for manga. An episode of anime wipes the blues away.

@topic: I don't think that's the case. Otakus and gamers cannot be directly assimilated with one another - but there are a lot of them. Most specifically too since anime and games are likeable. But the answer is still no. Maybe most, but not all.

But otaku is generally defined in English as a person who love anime/manga.

I am diff. a hardcore gamer since i was little girl. I grew up with a family who likes to play video games. The first one i have was the old game boy then upgrade to a colored one.
Teenager : Playstation 1 then Upgrade to Playstation 2
