I just watched the new Dragon Ball Movie.

And what a let down it turned up to be!
As a dragonball fanatic I would say they've ruined it.

And to think that they will make another sequel!

WHAAAAAAAAAAA!

i think its the american interpretation not necessarily the japanese translation.

so its not really degrading to the title, although it does suck compared to the anime

thats why its called an interpretation not a translation..

of course they change the story, if not then everyone will compare it to the anime like what you all doing right now.

i think we should be happy that animes are getting enough recognition.

oh btw, Cowboy Bebop is also be breaking through the barriers. Keanu Reeves being the lead

I am actually looking forward to that.. in general Animes houses huge potential for movies and not just the action packed ones

All I can say is that it is about time some producers got thier heads out of...... hopefully this will help spread anime around the world even more :32:

I don't even want to watch the dragonball movie. I'm American and i think they shouldn't touch anime shows. they don't cast good people to play them. As for Cowboy Bebop, i don't think keanu reeves (don't know how to spell his first name) is right for the part though. he used to be a good actor but now hes only a second rate star. They need to get big time actors.

Hmm, yeah I think it is good that anime is getting attention to be turned into movies or other media... it is just that most of the time they can't properly make the transition... or really just do a horrible job of it (like books to movies and other media I guess), haha but I guess people in Japan have the same arguments about Manga being transferred to Anime and so on.

Like the idea of Cowboy Bebop movie, though honestly can't see Keanu Reeves being able to pull off Spikes laid back easy going attitude. Hmm, for some reason I think Edward Norton might pull it off better, meh.

My cousins probably watched since they are big fans of Dragonball. I saw the advert poster for this film and the first thing that pop up into my mind is that 'it would never be successful . . . I just knew it'. My instinct as a otaku says so . . . Holleywoods ruins anime series instead of making them famous.

For once I disagree. I dont like Cowboy Bepop but I love Keanu Reeves style (if you watched Constantine you would agree he could be ultra chilled).

On the other hand ... your right, I am not a fan of turning books into movies unless you get the original writer to do the script and be a consultant on the set. The only book that was ever copied almost perfectly into a movie was Stephen King's stand and thats coz they made it into a 4 part made for TV movie and King himself worked with the other writers.

I am sure the die hard manga fans must be horrified at some of the anime interpretations :1:

But to make a movie of an anime series such as Dragon Ball, there was not much that could have been done to really make this enjoyable to avid fans.

How awkward would it be to see a talking pig with a flying rabbit/cat looking creature and a little buff asian boy running around with a buff midget?

Reguardless of the hate, you have to sit back and think how crappy it COULD have been. It could have been much worse. So just watch it, laugh about how they say kamehame so awkwardly and stop complaining. Just like Avich said, we get it, no one liked it.

I personally commend the production staff to have the balls to take an impossible mission and make it atleast bearable to watch.

stephen chow is one of the producers and he probably got a little idea what the outcome of the movie would be...

he probably have himself tearing his hair off for such a failure of a movie... he is also a big fan of the dragonball series and i strongly believe he did not expect this.

btw dragon ball is nice. other than the 5 min battles lasting 5 whole episodes its very good. ^^try watching it.

1 ep -> talking, the next fight, then talk some more, then fight, then protagonist side is losing, they talk some more, fighting again... then protagonist powers up, more fighting, tables are turned, antagonist pulls up a trump card, more fighting... etc... etc again...

The fight scenes were extremely childish
the SFX were like those of Lionsgate
and what ever happened to the blond hair when Goku's hair rises????

I hope they redeem themselves by making a sequel that 100 times better....
