Okay, so I'm sitting here watching Clannad, minding my own business when I read
DONT READ SPOILER IF YOU HAVNT FINISHED CLANNAD!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways that really pissed me off. I watched the show and fell in love with it. However, I feel a little bit of the emotional aspect was gone by the time I got to that scene because I had seen it coming.

It's not only in Clannad either!

Many are doing this in videos. There has to be a way to stop them or delete the posts. Perhaps multiple-time offenders can get banned because it is taking away from the anime.

Well gotta go back to Lovely COmplex, too bad I know what's gonna happen already thanks to really stupid otakus...

Often animes are pretty streight forward, excluding code geass, so you can usually guess how the story is going to unfold, if you from the comments know it has a sad ending.

But going as far as banning people for a couple accidently spoilers is pretty harsh...
Perhaps something like a thread for each anime with a link at the videoplayer could encourage people to write spoilers and discuss the anime in the designated thread.
Ofc it would be enter at own risk hehe..

100% Right! Just reading "oh ep 22 how sad!!" really makes me mad..but yeah, i guess you're right about banning them, I was just pissed at the time lol..

My suggestion is that we take out the comments on videos completely.. Or make it so that it has like somehwat of a spoiler button to open the whole chat up or something....

Yes, this issue has been under our attention since the comment section was up. Its really hard to control it because users are sometimes overwhelmed with emotion and its really hard not to talk to someone and share about it.

Option 1:
We have been thinking about assigning chat mods to monitor the chat 24/7. Mods who have seen most of the anime titles here with a pleasant personality (other words, Extreme Otaku who knows how to communicate with people).

Option 2:
There would be a separate main comment section for the whole anime title and a sub comment section for the specific anime episode. By default the comment windows will be minimized and there will be note saying you should not read the main comment section if you haven't finished or atleast watched until the latest episode and another note for the sub comment section to not read it if you haven't watched that specific episode.

If Someday when the whole issue is kinda out of control, we will put up a vote to decide if we should disable the comment section.

We want to find a way so users can enjoy streaming and share the emotion with other people without compromising other users who haven't watched the Anime title.

Any suggestions guys? Would really appreciate it.

Just having the comments minimized or like covered up some how unless u click something would be fine for me, that way when i finished the series or something i can look at the comments. Also both the level 2 otakus and the both comment boxes for episodes induvidually and for the whole series would be awesome to be put into place

Or the comments can just be relocated to BELOW the video

And even better, would it be possible to have comments for each episode instead of the entire thing? That way the entire show wouldn't be ruined from one comment.

I really hope comments don't have to be removed, that would be sad (for me at least. I really like reading what other people think about it)

I agree with Solidoxygen, we shouldnt take it off. I am someone who likes spoilers and want to know what the show is like before watching. So maybe an option where people can choose to read the comments or not

@Avich Option 1 sounds good, but thats putting more trouble on you to find such an oxymoronic like person (otaku..well with people? haha jk) I mean you have enough worries as it is.

I really like the idea of a sub-comment section for each episode. Are you still considering this idea?

Yes I definitely agree with Solid. we should not take the comment section off.
And if you still need someone to monitor and remind Otaku members about the rules then I will volunteer if you found one then that's awesome also!. As long as we dont get rid of the comment section :-) LOL I'm a curious/skeptical person. Sometimes I like to see what's people think about the anime first before trying to watch it LOL

just an idea, a spoiler button after the coment has been posted for the viewers of the comment - obviously with other actions to stop spoilers in the first place - if it is clicked the comment gets hidden? that way if (with added warnings ect) someone posts a spoiler it doesnt ruin it for everyone and the admin doesnt get contacted to fix every spoiler that we come across

I see.. But the problem with this is that the feature can be abused. Voting system in the comments might get around this but its too complicated to implement quickly. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion :)

All animes have spoilers its up to you if you wanna read it.

So basically if you happen to see a spoiler, close down your browser and dont read it.

For me when I see the spoiler I dont read the whole details and I tend see in opposite the direction where the spoiler is so I dont see nor read it.

Its up to you really its just self discipline.

If you put "do not spoil anime on the rules" and make them read the rules when they come, it might work, or have next to the title, in big yellow letters, no one would be able to miss it. I agree we should have a "spoiler section" but how would that prevent from people posting in the regular sb and cb?
