MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) Two-to three-hour rotating brownouts are expected to hit Luzon, including Metro Manila, over the next few days because of the breakdown of the island's three major power plants.

Outages lasting two to three hours will be experienced by Luzon grid's load customers, National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Monday.

the schedule here is 9:00 am-11:00 am so by the time the fan goes off coz of brownout, i wake up and go to our terrace to play with the dogs. there's nothing to do because there's no electricity and its so hot to stay inside the house.

since the schedule of the rotating brownout is from morning till noon, i'm gonna ask where do you guys use the candles?

lol Nepals been having complete powercuts for 75% of the day, everyday, for a long time now because the government doesn't take care of their powerplants and aren't fixing them

5-7 Hours here in Butuan (part of mindanao)... starts at around 8:00 AM-9:00AM+ and ends around 2:00PM+, i dont know about the other cities here but we have this long when it comes to the Blackout/Brownout T_T

This Electric outage started around early Feb, and said to be until June-July. Since Mindanao is under attack by El Nino and our Power plants ( mostly Hydro ) are running out of Running water ^_^ ehehehe ^_^.. Well thats the story.. its the combination of Summer heat + Wrong timing for El Nino + the incompetence of the politicians.. = pain in the @$$...

..... Rotating brownouts here in CDO (Northern Mindanao)? Uhmmmm.... It's really annoying!! 5 hours of brownout....!!!!!! With nothing to do......

..... By the way this is the schedule:

8:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m. - Monday
1:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m. - Tuesday
6:00 p.m - 11:00 in the evening - Wednesday

..... And the cycle begins again after the third day .....

..... See how it affects our daily routines/chores???

yeah.. it sucks when the lights are out.. but good thing we have a gigantic rechargeable Fan that last for 6 hours xD... we just sit in front of it and make weird noises XD

i woul say that is great time to hang out with friends ;DD and drink beer next to candle with the person you want to be closer ;DD

once i had black out(high voltage cable to my flat was dmged) for 3 days ;DD
it was in summer, i normaly am quite pale, but that time i've got quite nice tan ;D

and in every winter i have oproblems with black out also, because there is to much snow on the high voltage cable, and they often got dmged ;D

I think so too... I mean in davao they warn they people when there will be a Blackout and for how long and mostly the blackout only last for 2hrs... But here in Butuan its Every day and last for 5-7 hrs... I mean WTF??? why should we get the short end of the stick??

we've experienced it just once.. the lights turned off at 8.30pm and got back before 10.30.. the next night it didn't happen again.. i heard there were 4 power plants that needs to be repaired that's why they are having this rotating brownout..

The worst part about this is that not only there are rotating brownouts but also the charge for electricity goes higher as well. 2 months ago we paid 2500 pesos for the electric bill (the usual highest fee we had), then last month, it was 3200. Lately, our bill racked up to 4,500 pesos! My mom's so upset that she will even set time limits for computer use...:2:
