Are you very particular about the shows you start to watch? I am - I hate to watch anything that goes on too long or has a sad or unusual ending.

Hey, I liked the end of School Days. I happen to love romance anime AND horror anime, so when I saw the ending, I was so happy!

If an anime is 50+ episodes though, I typically won't start watching it. It's just too ridiculous.


There's also something to be said for animation style and art. I'm a bit picky based on the overall look, and sometimes even the voice acting.

It is a bit sad, but a lot of animes tend to have a rushed ending, like they are trying to wrap to many things up in the final episode. It could be that they want to leave things to our imagination, but really if I have watched 13, 24, 26 or even more episodes I feel that I am entitled to know how it is going to end.

after reading everyones responses I fear I might be the pickiest one of them all :(


I dislike overly ecchi anime, as well as anime that has loose endings but no sequels. I can't stand lead characters who constantly beat up the guy for simple misunderstandings for 99% of the anime (if it happens a few times towards the beginning thats one thing but if it becomes a constant gag it makes me pukey). I don't really like anime that is 85% fighting all the time. Anime that only has tragedy after tragedy only to end up in tragedy leaves me really unhinged and I immediately need to find new anime to distract me before it gets to me too much. Anime where parents abandon their kids only to come back asking for financial help and then continue to betray the kid only gets on my nerves but if it has a good ending then I can usually stand it. Badly drawn anime makes me cringe if it doesn't have a fantastic plot to support it. Anime's with very weak plots but constant desperate attempts at being serious usually mean I'll walk away.


there are probably a few other annoyances here and there but yeah... I'm pretty picky :(

Romance/Harem/Comedy/Ecchi

If one of those are kicked out, I don't watch it. Plus I'm also picky about those genres.

-It's not romance if it's more talk less love

-It's not harem unless there's at least three girls, plus a male protagonist
1.) The girl who'll obviously end up with the protagonist, Must have Pink/Orange/Brown hair or name is related to Sakura.
2.) Oversized breasted girl who hates the protagonist, but will eventually like him
3.) Loli Girl with either a cute or a retarded voice, and duh she must be flat!

-It's not comedy unless it's, duh, funny!

-It's not ecchi unless there's at least ONE half nude scene with the protagonist very close to the girl.

*I really don't like mainstream animes like Naruto, Bleach and such... *shudders*
*I don't like ecchi either. Well, sometimes it's okay (most of them sux in my opinion). After all, it's almost always the same.. A young guy, sudden girlfriend appearance, a lot of boobs/pantsu shots, and that teasing... I hate it. I'm all like wtf, just kiss each other already.
*Oh, and one more thing that I don't like. Tsunderes. Yep, I said it. Not all of them though. But yeah, most of them give me headaches.

I didn't like the amount of nudity in elfenlied but the story was good enough to overlook it.

The long going series arent thru favourites either since they tend to have so many fillers, i'd appreciate much more pause if they're closing in too much on manga, or wait for the curent story to end and make a season out of it. If they really want to do something in the meantime they could just make a new anime since fillers got nothing to do with the main story. I dont really like the ones with no plot either. But even if they're so i actually finish em, dun like leaving things unfinished.

For genres i don't like yaoi, mecha and yuri (may or may not) /gg. I can't watch animes with bad/low animation design, except maybe if it has a good story and i happen to start the first episode, example here is one piece. I don't like the art at all, but it is one of the top animes which means it should be good but still i never tried it even though i watch other mainstream animes (naruto, bleach, fairy tail). Genres i particularly like are: horror, gore, romance, comedy, and some action. I do watch ecchi and harem as well.

I can't really get into alot of mecha either. So I'm wary about anything that has mecha attached. Though I'm tempted to give Evangelion a go since it IS made by Gainax, and I've loved every other anime I've seen from them so far.
