Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: Manga creator Kagami Yoshimizu has started serializing his Lucky Star four-panel comedy manga in Saitama Shimbun, the newspaper for the "home" prefecture of the story, on April 1. The manga will run in the newspaper every month. The newspaper will also launch a feature devoted to moe, tentatively titled "Monthly Saitamania," on April 25 Among other sections, the "Monthly Saitamania" feature will run a contest for reader-submitted illustrations.

Saitama Prefecture has served as the model for the backdrop setting of the series, and the local Washinomiya Shrine has since gained fame and increased tourism as the place where the manga's Kagami and Tsukasa Hiiragi supposedly work as miko (shrine maidens). Yoshimizu himself has drawn the manga in the prefecture, and his former home was converted into a landmark as the "birthplace" of the manga.

Bandai Entertainment has been releasing both the Lucky Star anime and the original manga in North America.
