Once again we are saved right in time to pay the bills :4: In behalf of all the OS staff, I would like to say Thank you dear Members for all your undying support for OS, especially to all the VIP.

I can't help but feel amazed and honored to see what a strong and supportive community OS has (Even the donation bar on top agrees with me...It will be fixed by the way in case anyone is wondering).

We see the majority of the OS members really want to support and help OS out but are not able to donate. I was thinking of someway to give an option for those who want to help but can't donate. Here it is:

An option to enable ads for those who don't mind. Of course this option is OFF by default. All ad revenues will reflect on the monthly goal. Also all ads will be pop-up free, PG-13 and virus free. Advertisement revenue generated for each members might be tracked and can be used to establish some kind of rank in the future.

Let me know what you guys think and once again, THANK YOU everyone for all your support, ESPECIALLY the VIP members ;)

We all just want to keep OS here!!! But that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think it would work out great considering the amount of people who want to help. We might not have to worry bout financial problems again. =)

Yes, i would totally agree to that. as long as there are no annoying ads that make sound while you move over them, everything is fine, and shouldnt be irritating.

Ideally they should be placed on the sides of the page, and on the bottom to make them appear not so "present"

I loathe the idea of ads, but if it's made an option for those who have no way to donate and still want to support OS rather than a small annoyance to even those of us who do/have donated... then I'm all for it :D. You could also have an ad of the day lol, everyone click one each day. ^.^;

On the adverts - this will be optional. That is if you dont want to see them or be bothered by them, you can turn it off. That way only the people who have good connections and who want to help can do so

This means we can still keep the dream alive of keeping OS free for all

WHY don't you make 1 thread or section in the forum that contain a list of all ads if your planning to get one and OS member can just visit the thread and click it/register from it. so it can avoid annoyance to everyone..... this is just my idea

Ad Company won't allow it. There is a term they use where ads are only placed at one page of the whole site, I forgot. I don't even know if they would allow this optional thingy :))

I don't like adds, but I see how they can be the only reliable option.

I wouldn't personally mind them on the streaming pages, you can always just run the anime in full screen. But it would be really annoying to have the adds on the forum, where they are flashing and taking up space.
What I'm trying to say is, I would enable the add option if it would only be while streaming videos, where as I wouldn't if it also affected the forum.

Of cause the whole add thing will become obsolete once I win the grand price in the lottery! It could be any day now :emhh28:

By the way, Ctrl+ (cmd + on mac) with most browsers will zoom in on the player too if you have a big screen like me and can't go full w/o too much pixelation.

You're right, that could work for philippine users. Globe Cash can be integrated with paypal but I don't know about SmartMoney though. If it will be possible, we might add that option in the future :) Thanks for the suggestion

If anyone knows information on the requirements and processes in money transaction using gcash and smartmoney please shed some advice or general information :)

Pretty sure most advertisements don't allow people visiting the pages they advertise on to let people opt out of them. Best way to ditch ads if you don't want to see them is download an addon for firefox like ad-stopper.

well i think you could put something like the spoiler option (the button that hides anything)
you could hide the ads-something if it annoys you or slows down your pc....

And one thing also(this is a suggestion), well you notice the low quality thing in all videos well if you put the high quality thing in videos, you might put some fee on viewing high quality vids....
downloading and conversing a video is a back-breaker you know, you could put some fee on it

well it just a suggestion well you could ignore it, i do not provoke the idea of fee in high quality vids on some Otakus there
but what choice do we have here...

That's actually what the staff is trying to avoid at all costs... We don't want to single anyone out if they paid. Most videos are as high quality as can be offered... I don't see many low quality vids... and If they uncompressed them and had bigger file sizes than they do now... The server costs will be even more.

Optional ads are in the works as Avich said. Lets hope that type of thing works out with the ad company :P

I am all for the ads. That would let everyone help and hopefully my pay comes in next month and i will figure out a way to transfer.

I do not agree with posing a fee for the higher quality videos as I believe that OS has the vision to make this a free anime site for all and it's kinda one step closer to being crunchyrollish if we impose that kind of fee.

I like the idea of a daily special ad. But whatever you guys decide we will support it. Also, an ad post count wouldn't be a bad idea, considering most members here are very competitive. XD
