Of course it would depend on who was confessing .... Since I gather you are in Japan and maybe Japanese, that is a very serious thing to ask someone else ... almost a serious as getting engaged here in the west.

If they accept I hope that both of you really consider where this path may take you (commitment/marriage) before moving on to the next phase of being lovers .... there are too many broken hearts in the world as it is .....

Hmph, such drama with it all...
It would be a pretty simple "Yes, I would love to go out with you", or "Thank you, but I dont feel that way about you". I am either accepting or rejecting the basic feelings. Going out with someone is the beginning of something, not the end nor the end result. Do we truly know each other yet? Not really - which is why we date. She did not say "I love you" but rather "I like you" - thats fine. If she said "I love you" that might be scary - she would instead be similar to a stalker then... Trust me, you dont want a stalker following you around - its really scary...

if i just met you i would probably say "no" because the heck! i just met you recently and i will not take advantage of that even if you're beautiful. why not we get to know each other first and start as friends....

Kai - sorry I have not been on much and haven't replied, but I think you already know what I would say. Obviously this is someone you know - at least had a couple of conversations with, so why not take the chance and go for it?
On the other hand if you dont really know the person then get to know them
If someone came and told me what you said and I was single, then if I knew you well, I would say "Yes, why not" and if I didnt know you well, I would say something like, "I dont know you that well to say yes, or no, so why not we have coffee or something first and get to know each other better"
