There is nothing like SRI LANKAN food. Everything is cooked with lots of spices and almost everything has coconut milk. One of the best dishes is one that is made with fresh onions, fresh green chillies, black pepper, salt, dried red chillies and powdered dry fish all ground together and then mixed with fresh scrapped coconut, called Pol Sambol (Coconut Salad). It can be had with bread or rice.
There is also chicken curry, pork black curry, devilled prawns, milk rice (rice cooked in coconut milk) brinjal Moju (fried brinjals in a sweet and spicy gravy with pineapples pcs).
We also have exotic fruits and vegetables and yams almost all of which we make into chutney (sweet and spicy jam) which is eaten with rice and curry ....

I love Chinese and Mexican food. Spicy foods are the best thing though, aside from sweets.

Then there's shrimp gumbo. You don't know everything the world has to offer until you've had a good shrimp gumbo. South Louisiana really does have some of the best food in America. No offense to northerners, but you usually don't have enough spice. :(

Agree on both the shrimp gumbo and on spices. Food without spices is nutrition without flavour

Last year, I went to Okinawa Japan for cultural exchange programme. And the soba was heavenly! Okinawa soba is extraordinary. If you guys have a chance to go there, its a must to try. =D

Yes! I love soup too! My favorite is this tortilla soup that they serve at my school. It has tomatoes, chicken, lots of spicy stuff, and some herbs.

Cereal is the best I know. And it must be one special cereal, Weetabix!
Weetabix is the only food I can eat for breakfast, nothing else.

Eating frogs and snails are the closest I've come to exotic. I don't think I can stand snakes >_<. I hear some people eat ****roaches . They coat it up with chocolate too :|. Has anyone tried? I'm curious xD.

Well, usually open to anything but probably the strangest thing I've eaten is cow brain... at the time I didn't know what it was, and it actually tasted pretty good. It was deep fried and spiced as well so was quite a content eater... until I was told what it was, to my credit I finished the one I was eating.

Actually I guess if it weren't for the whole 'mad cow' issue I really don't see what the big deal would be about eating cow brain, I mean McDonalds hamburgers probably contain even more questionable parts of cow or cow like animals.

Yes, that's what that's true! McDonald's just uses a different formula for the cultured worms. Hmmm... so Jollibee has a bigger percentage of beef huh? I might consider theirs but there are still Wendy's, Burger King and other Burger selling restaurants.

I can pretty much eat anything and find something good to say about it. I actually get a lot of the food i eat from a dumpster behind this discount grocery store down the street because they throw things away that are still obviously good. For example, i got three big bags of sweet potatoes and in each bag there were maybe one or two that were bad. They obviously can't sell them with a bad one in the bag so they throw it out and then i come at night and take them for free. After all, who is going to say anything to me? It was "garbage".

I like Chinese and Japanese food, and depending on the place, I also like Mexican food. Some places do it better than others. Like El Indio and Taco Bell.

My current favorite place to eat is Kojo of Japan down at the mall. A tad expensive, but the portions are huge and it's delicious. The teriyaki beef dish is to die for!

I love pasta: over-baked zitti, tuna pesto, chicken alfredo, charlie chan's pasta (this one's from Yellowcab), etc... I prefer white sauce than the red one mainly because the red sauce has a tendency to taste a little bit sour and I am not fond of sour-tasting food.

I notice though that even though I love anime and would love to go to Japan someday, I am not really into Japanese food. I don't even know how to use chopsticks. Oh well, I'll just practise more often.

Nothing beats the cuisine of your motherland...Filipino food is still the best for me. I also love Japanese dishes although they are really hard on the budget. I'm a BIG fan of pastas (except seafood or presto ones) and noodles (except curry or coconut milk-based ones).

I hate: Indian food...except the Roti Prata...^_^

May I suggest some good places to eat in the Phils.?

Napoli Pizzeria-my ultimate Italian resto. Great value for your money because the servings are really for sharing. Must Try: Carbonara, Baked Ziti, Fish and Chips
Sbarro, Italianni's, and Fazoli are quite good...although they are pricey.

Metro Tokyo-If you are tired of eating oily Japanese fastfood, this is the place. However, the prices are quite expensive.
Saisaki-Eat-all-you-can goodness! Just be sure to come at around 11 am so you can have all the good stuff.
TIP: The tuna sashimi is not displayed...you need to ask the sushi chefs to prepare you one...

I just ate a pack of Nutter Butters. Was okay, not great. Tasted more Buttery than Nuttery, seems like a case of poor proporton. I prefer Oreos really, but I'm saving those for later. And I ate all my Jerky last night *sadface* It was worth it though... I still love this thread...
