I mean, his main idea is to clean the world from criminals. So do you agree with kira, and do you think that killing people, like kira, is good or bad?

Kira's heart was in the right place, but he got seriously carried away and lost his way somewhere. In the end, he became as detestable as the criminals he condemned to death. Can anyone with such power remain uncorrupted by the forces they wield?
Being rid of criminals would be amazing. Going on a mass murdering spree to get there? Not so much.

At the beginning, his actions were quite agreeable. But when people started getting in his way, he didn't only kill criminals anymore. He just did whatever it took to protect himself, even going as far as to killing those who are closest to him.
Bottom line: I agree with his primary vision.

I agree with that he had gone insane at the end and wanted to protect himself even by killing those who were close to him, but he had a big power i think, and everyone would try to protect himself using this power.

Well he killed all the criminals right? regardless of what they did. I am pretty sure that they all did not kill people. So he was killing people who did things like steal and other infractions that you can get out of jail pretty easily with. I don't believe in killing people that don't deserve to die. On the other hand, if he only killed murders and rapists, then I do not mind, Because those two, you are taking away something that you can never give back.

This topic should be titled.
Anti Kira or Pro Kira
But anyway, I find Kira's ambitions are quite noble.
However since there is competition, he can't help but destroy the one who stops him from his ambitions.
Is it my imagination or The death note plot seems is plagiarism from the Sherlock holmes novel during the jack the ripper massacre?

The answer would be both....he have a nice idea that the world need to change but his method is in the wrong side.....it just way to insane and I agree to Near stated in the last episode where he said that the idea was from a murderer and L's idea that it is an childish act
It was in spoiler because it contain some part in the story

I say no... I mean... without criminals there wouldn't be any adventure or excitement in life. Policemen would be jobless, how much more the S.W.A.T. team? Other than that, IF the government is under pressure, where's the Mafia that would support it? There will be no EVIL or BAD side in action movies and even Anime. People won't think that rockers running on top of a Cop Car is cool anymore... in fact, there wouldn't be any cop cars. The TV show, World's Most Shocking Videos, would be cancelled because most of it are crime scenes. CSI Miami and New York are gonna get cancelled and FOX is gonna be out of sales. Pirates Of The Carribean would not have existed and so would One Piece.
So if Kira were to eliminate ALL the criminals in this world... we would just be DANG bored!

I don't agree with it... (if he only uses the notebook to kill a person)
Because.. criminals also have rights...(but even if the person dies this don't mean the hatred will vanish from the heart of a person..)
legend: me (other side of me..)
killing people is bad..(killing a person is worst that killing your self..)

Kira is a person of pride, dwells in his idea of perfection, comes clean despite his dirty ways, and exemplifies himself from the world for he sees himself as the ultimate model of perfection... He overlooks, oversees, and foresees outcomes of his every decision, proving himself worthy indeed of his self-proclaimed flawlessness.
This is why Kira is awesome... I'd have the same perception of this whole rotten world thing, but not to go so far as to eliminate the roots of the rottenness.
THIS WORLD IS DECAYING MINUTE BY MINUTE AS WE SPEAK!!!
Kira is perfection
Kira is insanely cool
Kira is justice!!!

i agree with it, but taking over as the god of the new world he aims is not good...
it seems to be a selfish goal...
i would rather make him unknown and stay as a vigilance and maintain justice...the good justice...
but i totally agree with eliminating sinful people :)) bwahaha

Overall? I think that he was correct. While his methods may have been the only real way to get rid of crime and such... well I don't personally like the thought of killing a few million people to clean up the place but someone has to be able to do the job no? I agree with him even though his methods of self defense were kinda harsh.

His original plan was ok but then he even kill those with minor crimes and do not deserve to be killed. Not to mention that he later killed innocent people and my awesome L :'(

I think every person should be responsible and/or punished by their actions and the crimes they do. Also, although I think a person can change, I am aware that it is highly unlikely to happen too. So, in the end, I do believe in his basic idea and think that by getting rid of the ''bad'' people the world could acutally become a better place. However, I'm talking here of the most aggravated crimes, so by just stealing something from a store or something like that you shouldn't deserve do die.

people are mortal beings that's why we commit mistakes in our lives
killing the one who committed mistakes will not help him that's why
criminals are being imprisoned to reflect for their unrighteous acts
and will think twice if they wanna repeat them again.
killing will not help any body in any way.

It's a realism of how could power influence a person. At first, Light's main cause for using the death note was to purge the world from injustice and the likes; but as time passed by, he started to stray from what his first goal was and ended up trying to become a God by using the death note...

personally i dont totally disagree with his ideeas, i just think power went to his head. in the anime i kinda liked him somewhat till he went kinda of crazy. if it was a real life scenario i'd prolly hate him, i dont agree to killing people for any reason, but since it's fiction i dont mind it that much :P

well, Kira/Yagami Light at First is indeed the innocent-type guy, He loves Justice and his actions are agreeable, but later he got carried away and went insane, oh well cant blame him. At least he did killed all of the Criminals right?

He is insane. But he is not really addictive, He doesn't want to involved Innocent People. He only did that because these People are getting in his ways. And he must dispose of them, cause probably in the future, they might be a problem for him.

That part which really makes KIRA insane. Ever since that the he was being hunted, he already loss his sanity and think of becoming a god and he started killing people not for justice but for his own sake which is wrong. Even though killing people is already a negative, their is a part of justice at the beginning so it is a problem but he change and loss himself which make him wrong. He did have the idea of justice but the method is still wrong

Of course murder is bad, but didn't the whole world become a better place thanks to Kira? I didn't agree with him moving up from just the worst scum to nearly all wrong doings though. I believe he was a genius, but took a couple wrong turns, lol.

yes, and because of that, he got carried away and became a Devil instead of becoming a god. and of course he also went insane especially after he regained his memories back, he went extremely insane and is dying for revenge against L.

FOR my opinion, I am really against in Kira's way of thinking. YES, you might think that it's for the good of humans; for the criminals should be punished through death. BUT Kira is also a human being, and he has no right to take others lives. AND by other means, the way he's doing the killing is against humanity.. using a demonic power of a shinigami to kill others. AND would killing be a satisfaction to others happiness? NO~!! If you would kill a criminal, or should I rather say human being, for them to benefit; the other would suffer because of their lost. SO I think WHAT he is doing is UNJUSTIFIED~!!
AND additional, did he ever think that killing is a crime? AND so he killed and committed crime.. SO he's just another criminal who's killing other people. BUT I don't think that killing him would justify everything. By doing so, we'll just become another KIRA~!!
ONLY HEAVENS could decide DEATH.

he is just playing "God", and by that he is being dependent to the Death Note and thinks he is already invisible with it. He really got carried away by thinking he can stop Crimes by killing bad people~

Killing is morally wrong, period. I even find crap like euthanasia, which is 'assisted suicide', as morally wrong.
So. I don't know. Although he thinks he's doing something right, he's not; he's still killing people. That fact still stands.

The debate of whether or not what Kira did was morally wrong has been going on in the anime world since this show first came out. There will always be the people who love/support/idolize Kira on one side and those who feel completely opposite on the other. For my part, I think the entire debate is just as ridiculous as I found the show to be. To me Kira was just a one dimensional, power-crazed idiot, in my opinion.
I've often wondered whether or not my opinion stems from the fact that I watched this show for the first time when I was an adult rather than a child or teenager. I was beyond the point in life when I might have perceived such a show as being "cool" or "original." So the characters, as well as the plotline, came off as horribly trite and annoying to me. I had to fast-forward through many of the episodes because I couldn't stand the pretentiousness. The only interesting aspect of the show were the numerous shinigami; or rather, they would have been had the writers not chosen to humanize them (i.e. to give them human-like emotions and desires).
Do I think what Kira did was wrong? Yes, because he acted immaturely and in his own best interest. He only saw the world in black and white, criminal and non-criminal, because he couldn't/wouldn't acknowledge the grey areas in-between those absolutes. This is a very typical attitude among young people whose minds lack the maturity to appreciate life's subtleties. Absolute power absolutely corrupts as they say--especially when that power is in the hands of a kid. His "goal" was unattainable from the very beginning, and only those who see the world in black and white believe otherwise.
I won't touch on the issue of whether or not he was playing "god" because "god" has the power both to take life and give it away--Kira could only take life away.
