If you haven't heard of it, the series is actually a pretty off the wall comedy so it is kind of an odd choice I suppose. The episode in question is called 'Jurassic Bark' in which:

The main character Fry, through a few plot points blah blah blah, discovers the fossilized remains of his pet dog from the past. They flashback a lot to how happy they were before Fry got sent forward in time. (I know this just sounds wierd but bear with me) Fry decides to clone the dog until he learns that the dog died 12 years after he was frozen so he assumes the dog led a full life and has probably forgotten him.

The show then ends with a flashback of the dog following Fry's last command to 'stay' and is shown waiting outside and aging over a peroid of 12 years and the last shot shows him lying down and closing his eyes.

I agree with the poster here. The Fuko arc really was the saddest anime miniseries to me. Why?
Sunohara wasn't fatally injured. Somehow his personality becomes all the more grating when held against Tomoya, Tomoyo, and the twins, all genuinely interesting characters.

Okay joking aside, i'd have to say it's the final episode of Wolf's Rain. That one just grips me by the balls and twists at speeds that would make a lawnmower blade array blush.

The saddest anime eps for me is episode 7 of Fullmetal Alchemist with Nina and Alexander :'(
The worst part of that eps was that I first saw it when I was like 10.

Toradora ep. 19.. just watched it last night and as i watched the scene where Taiga chased after Ryuji that ended up with her crying and shouting his name in the dead cold of winter (not to mention it was X-mas eve..), honestly i felt something welling up in my throat.. :o_o: *sob* actually i was expecting Ryuji to be showing up on that part of the scene, but sadly no.. that guy really knows how to run fast! not to mention he's even wearing a bear suit!!! serves you right for getting rejected BAKA-INU!!! :wahaha:

First I would like to state that I'm NOT a person who cries...but I am willing to admit that animes to have a tendency to find my weak points. That being said here are some that I know made me choke up at some time. (details might be vague)
Air- Ending *sniffle* never quite got over that.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood- ep. 4
Black Cat- ep. 2 could totally see it coming though
Hellgirl- really there are many that are very touching but it depends on the person.
Nabari no Ou- Ending
Okamisan- towards the end...>:s shuda made a 2nd season
There are probly more I can't think of at the moment and I totally agree with some that have already been posted.

I cried loads in Clannad after story, when Ushio died in episode 21. And also recently in the last episode of Ano hi mita hana no namae bokutachi wa mada shiranai... Though for that one, it wasn't quite tears of sadness...
