HELLO!!
http://imgur.com/HamTF.jpg
Well Members ... Spring is around the corner (at least for those in the Northern Hemisphere) and with it Spring break and Easter holidays. So thought we would do some spring cleaning, pull out those old pictures, dust out those mouldy books and get our members to share some memorable and funny experiences they have had in past holidays.
Laughing at their mishaps will also help us to get to know our new members a wee bit better :3:
So sharpen those pencils and cheer us up with stories of wacky vacations!!!:4:
Well the honest truth is I was tired of wishing people Happy New Year after more than 10 days had past and couldn't think of anything else. (Plus I need some humour in my life right now, to prevent me from going mad!!)
Warning!! *pushes glasses down and glares* absolutely no spamming. :58: If you dont have a funny story or something interesting to comment, pls dont say anything. I am in a bad mood and am itching to do some serious moderation!!

It snowed here(in South Carolina) and stuck for the first time in about 9 years. It ended up being like 3-5 inches once it stopped. It was so pretty and I also got to go home early from work because of it. :3

World wide it has been one of the hottest winters in the last century, however since the failed COP15 climate summit here in Denmark we have had constant snow, that is more than two months. That has never happened before and by the looks of it it be staying for quite some time.
Usually we have a total of 5 days of snow during the winter, if we are lucky.
The funny part of the story is caused by a weather phenomenon.
Rain falls from skies in high altitude, but as it comes closer to earth the temperature drops below zero and the raindrops freezes to ice as they hit the ground, so called black ice.
It was utterly impossible to walk, everything was so slippery that if you as much as took a normal step you would skate 5 feet. It took me an hour to walk to college a walk that normally takes me 15 minutes, I actually had to crawl some of the way, extremely humiliating but it got me there with all my bones intact.
In my town alone a city of 300.000, we had more than 400 heavy bone fractures and hips dislocations before noon.

hehehe I remember when I was really small, right after we had settled into our new little home, my first real winter. That winter was the first time me and my younger sisters had seen snow pile up more than an inch or two. The snow started late at night.... our childish exclamations proclaiming the arrival of the snow, filled up the first hour of the winter weather.. and quieted as we drifted into sleep.
The very next morning, our entire family was surprised that it had snowed about a foot and a half! With us being little kids, this height was more than enough for any activity imagineable. Even more funny were my parent's reactions. Both of them, of course, grew up in the Philippines. Here in America and other countries (my mom was an avid traveler... she even knows some german xD) they had encountered snow, but never snow of this height. I remember my dad watching us happily from the porch, or following us as we played with the neighborhood kids.
A couple days later, trees top-heavy with snow took out power-lines. Our home had a gas powered fire place, it was the only thing that worked when the power went out. Some of my fondest winter memories come from spending hours with my mom, dad, and sisters in front of the fireplace. We even slept in that room together with the fire on :)

Hmm well Mines not a Funny story or it cant even make a people laugh..(in my opinion anyway)
But this DID happen to me and my Friends when i was still in 2nd year High School.
that time i was in a boyscout camping trip.
When we where ordered by our commanding officer to split by 5 (we have 50 People In our team. Team Agusan Del Norte [Philippines] Yey)
some of the group where ask to find some Firewood's to use for cooking later in the evening.. SO we Did.
it took us quite some time to collect enough woods required for each team. We didn't notice that it was getting dark( because of the thick trees).. on the way to the camp it was already dark, we notice a light coming from a distance slowly coming our way when we finally where able to take a good look at it we notice that the darn thing was just flouting in the air we where really scared by the sight of it that we just trow the woods and run like hell. We got separated, most of my group came back except for 1 the youngest in our group. Our scout master ask'd us "Where's the other boy? and we said "we don't know" then they search for him and finally 8 hours later he was found near the river just walking and talking by himself..
a week later we herd from a teacher of ours that the boy was Enchanted by a spirit (na Ingkanto. daw) and is being treated in the hospital somewhere.
the weird thing is that this story happened last month this exact day. So January 23,2005.
and that is the reason eve never gone camping in a tent ever again.
The end...
And seriously this really did happen..

Well for me I pretty much lived in a hot and humid climate for the last 8 years or so. Meaning I had never driven on snow, or anything like that. One day, I look outside and it was snowing pretty hard. I was off from work that day so I didn't really mind. The next day it was still snowing and I looked out the window to see my SUV covered in so much snow it resembled a giant snowball... I was flabbergasted. So I spent a long time out in the snow pushing of about 3 feet of snow from the hood of my vehicle and my windshield. Only to notice the windshield was covered in ice. Again I was at a loss, so I decided to use my ingenuity and came up with pouring hot water on it then running the wipers... that worked. Next, I get into my car and drove to work... sliding and slipping allover the road. Which really didn't matter as I was one of only 3 vehicles I saw driving. By the time I get there I notice only 2 vehicles in the parking lot.... they were closed.
That's my story of how I learned to call into work before I put such an effort into going :emhh02:

well, in winter, i went snowboarding for the first time..omg, at first, i was very3 excited, felt like my heart was thumping out of my chest...but after an impressive amount of falling down, the feeling of breaking my back, my pelvis, all those excited-omg-this-is-my-first-time-snowboarding faded away til i feel like, i don't want to do snowboard ever again. maybe next time i'll take up skiing, my friend did it and i think it looks much, much , way easier than snowboard. to be honest, my back still hurts til now (T__T)*sob3*

I pretty much can't relate to the chilled (or frozen) atmosphere since I'm in a sizzling tropical country named the Philippines...but this Christmas' been interesting...
It was Christmas eve...or I should say...The Night Before Christmas. My cousin and I are catching up on each other's lives in our province vacation. It was already 11 pm...and maybe, every living soul in the place was already sleeping...since it's a province anyway...
Suddenly, we heard an object fall in the kitchen. We were so surprised because here are the two of you talking in the quiet ambiance and then...it happened. My cousin's a brave guy so he decided to check it out. He found a Tupperware on the floor that was originally on a table very far where it fell, and I should add that there are so many things on the table so it's pretty impossible for the Tupperware to fall that way. What's so intriguing is that there are drops of water on the Tupperware...when that container is actually dry...
It took me so long before I could finally sleep after that.
The next morning, I asked a relative who's sleeping very near us if she heard that. She said that she's been up all night and couldn't sleep...and she heard nothing but our voices talking...
Hmm...

This tale has been shared in minor detail before, but I figured it's the most memorable winter I've had, so I might stray back in time to 3 years ago, and provide more detail. It is both memorable for its down moments as well as its up moments.
It was my first year of college. In the recent months, before I had started college, my mom had been diagnosed with cancer, and most of the time I spent in the first quarter of college worrying myself to the bone. I really couldn't focus well, but she insisted I go to college, even when she had surgery. And even though she had pulled through the surgery all right, she still had to get Chemotherapy every so often for a long time afterwards, which carries it's own numerous risks.
I was quite worried about all that. And yet despite my own looming worries, it felt like I had to be the optimistic force in the family at those times. Acting optimistic while carrying as heavy a load of worries as everyone else was a heavy burden.
The second quarter of classes (winter quarter) had begun, and I was still just as worried as ever. I needed a relief from my tension and worries. A miracle was needed and a miracle I got. It was the second week of our art of color (oil paints) class that I first talked to her.
I had overheard her talking about World of Warcraft to a classmate behind me (face it, as much as you try not to, you will listen in when you hear someone say a keyword or two), which I was playing (though rather half-heartedly) at the time. I figured it couldn't hurt to strike up a conversation since we ended up standing next to each other at the end of class washing our hands in the classroom sink. After a couple of rather uncertain feeling days, we eventually started sitting at the same table in class, and often had conversations about anything under the sun.
It was a pure joy to me. I was able to go to class and be able to forget my worries and be able to genuinely laugh and have a good time. I owe her much of my sanity saved during those times, I think. It was a little sad for me when we parted ways at the end of the quarter, but since things were going well with my mom (recovering well at that point), I decided I could make it on my own with a smile from there.
Whether it was one of the oddest coincidences or fate that landed us in the same class next quarter together again, I will never know. It may have even been fated that I would fall for her halfway through the spring quarter. All I know is that time changed who I was, am, and possibly will be forever. Which is why it sticks out in my memories so well. To this day, as some of you have been reading, I chase after her against all odds in hopes of being together.
Final Note: My mom recovered from all that mess with the cancer and Chemo and is doing quite well now. I personally suspect that she might outlive us all, even. Didn't want to leave you guys with a nasty cliffhanger there. :^)

Only cool and interesting thing about this winter was the icicles that formed on one of our trees. We had the sprinkler going, because if we don't the water will freeze and we won't have any water coming in until it melts. Awesomely enough the water froze on the tree and ground instead. It was cool to me, because it has never happened at my house before. In fact, it's only the second time I've even seen ice outside my house. The first time was a random hailing last year.
The icicles were beautiful hanging off the tree and pretty much breaking the branches off of it. I wanted to stay outside and watch the icicles fall off, but it was too cold to stay out for long. What was more exciting, though, was the ice on the ground. Looked like huge droplets and stalagmites of ice, almost like it was growing out of the ground.
Cool stuffs.
O yea, had a bit of bad luck this winter. My city was supposed to have snow a few weeks ago, which would have been the first sign of it since I was born in 1989. But at a neighboring city got it instead... -_-

Pikel : Hilarious .... I had a similar experience and have also learnt since then to call before struggling to go to work on an out of the ordinary day
OVirus : Lost my mum to cancer couple of years ago - know how nerve wracking and horrible going through the sickness and how much one single person or few very good friends can help you through
On of the best holidays I had was strangely from the office.
when we are sent overseas on business the company allows us to stay just the required number of days packed with back to back meetings.
A couple of years back I had to go to UK for 3 days of meetings and due to the flights being full I was by default given a whole week. I didnt have a lot of money, so I bought day passes for train and bus, packed a sandwich lunch for 3 days and got to see almost all the tourist spots in London. It was in September, the weather was gorgeous and I remember at one point sitting on the curb somewhere, having an ice-cream cone and thinking - Damn I am blessed.
The second and very funny one was when a friend and I went to Bangkok. There was this special deal where just $250 covered the plane ticket and bed and breakfast for 3 days and 2 nights.
By the time we came up with the money all the weekend flights were booked as everyone was taking advantage of this deal. Suddenly our travel agent called and said there was one space left for 2 people on a certain weekend later down the line and without thinking we grabbed it and flew.
Imagine our surprise when we landed in Bangkok and wandered around totally empty streets!!! everything was shut - the shops, the bars, everything! Our hotel was near the famous Patpong district but we walked through streets that were ghost towns.
Turned out that it was a religious holiday and that was the reason we got the seats on the flights :18:
Oh well - we still enjoyed ourselves on the next 2 days...

It snowed roughly 56 inches here on the east coast of the U.S (where I am at least) and we are supposed to get another 12 inches tonight and tomorrow. Once the plows cleared the roads and left huge plies of snow near the yard and street I dug out about a 30 foot tunnel using an Ice pick and my hands =o snow ball fights and having it collapse one once was kind of fun. Though the best part was putting snow down the back of my cousins shirt. Sure she was pissed and I got a nice hard slap but it was worth it =D... Im completely sick of this flucking snow though =/ That and I got suspended for two days ;.; beat the crap out of some seniors in my school who wouldnt leave me alone >.< ( I got a few bruises on my gut and legs but I broke his nose and gave em two black eyes.. I think I won not sure)
Oh well its been interesting o.o... I guess

Our family, including relatives in my father's side, went to Korea last December. Among our many activities, we went skiing for a day. I've had a hard time learning how to ski (braking), although when I tired going down for a few times, I'm able to instinctively steer myself from obstacles (people). After going up and down for a few times, I saw my nephew walking, holding his skis and one of his poles. Apparently, he lost the other pole. As our skiing stuff were just rented, I looked for it with him.
I soon managed to find it and as I approached it, someone, who was going down, reached for it and gave it to me. When I turned around, I found out my nephew didn't look for it with me. Instead, he just walked back to the exit. I would probably get irritated if he wasn't so adorable xD

It was the best winter yet... because it doesn't snow, it rained only thrice this season, Girls don't wear any revealing outfits, ice appeared... in the freezer, I was able to despair in peace, My parents slept most of the time, School sucked, Anime rocks, Winter edition manga + anime came out. And a lot of other crappy + normal things
(I hate this country, KSA)

Ok, so when I was little, about 4 years old, I wanted a hello kitty stuffed animal (who doesn't?) for Christmas. And yes it was snowing, a blizzard. Anyway, since Santa is not real, my dad had to go buy the hello kitty. The next morning, when I woke up, I ripped open my present and found an ugly gray cat (not a real cat). My dad had bought some blob of cat instead of a cute hello kitty because he looked at the word cat T.T oh and the cat made disturbing meow sounds. Suprisingly, I still have the cat, except I gave to my sister, she abandoned it so it's somewhere in my house XD
