Well, I was thinking of buying a PSP. Mostly the latest version would be our 1st choice (PSP 3000) but I keep hearing negative feedbacks about it cause of the very few upgrades like only a built in microphone and Shinier LCD (which only has increased brightness and increase battery usage -_-).

So my next choice is the PSP 2000 which has a downloadable feature to games other than music, videos and etc, but I could also buy the PSP 1000 and just upgrade the download feature which I could save a bundle but I'm not 100% sure if the upgrade on the PSP 1000 is fool proof.....What should I do???

I'd recommend the 1st gen since it it's a sure shot on modding it (really shouldn't be putting it that bluntly, sorry if it causes any trouble), but if it seems too bulky for you then the 2000 is a better option, although the more recent 2000's are fitted with a new motherboard that rejects the current modding methods. The 3000's are unmodifiable for the same reason as the recent 2000's.

If you're planning to mod by yourself, make sure you have a spare battery and another (already modded) PSP to create the modding tools. Custom firmware is a great thing to have and really lets you get the most out of your PSP :)

All in all, the PSP is definitely worth investing into, and if you can't get the older versions at the moment, don't fret my friend. The community is hard at work to provide a solution against the new motherboard. =D
