Which one of these Electronic Entertainment giants is the king of console makers? Which of their achievements has brought us the most joy or grief? And most of all, which one of these is the most honored among gamers? Lets take a stand and show the world who deserves the title of MLCM: Most Loved Console Maker.

Feel free to use discussions involving consoles and their makers both past and present; which has the most user friendly system or systems, and which has the best line up of exclusive games from every genre. (Multi-console games and various electronics other than consoles and their accessories, such as PCs, don't have merit in this instance.)

Personally, I've always felt like Sony really gives the consumer something to look forward to consistently. (Unlike the way Microsoft [I]consistently[I] likes to screw its customers over with bulky, expensive, user inimical, and, more recently, inferior hardware.)

By the time Nintendo came out with its N64 console, which derived its name from its 64-bit cpu, the only other console with utilized a processor over 16 bits and 3D graphic drawing, the PS1 or Playstation, had already been in North America for a year prior. While the N64 used bulky cartridges and heavy hardware, the Playstation was more compact, with lighter internal components and applied for better usage of its smaller 32-bit cpu, and the clincher was the Playstation utilized Compact Discs for its software component(The games).

While Nintendo had been working with disc technology since the Famicom, they continuously had problems integrating it into the medium. So when they introduced the N64's ROM cartridges against the CD format of the Playstation it was understandably no small loss as the Disc software allowed for more compact, effecient, and most important of all, cheaper production.

Quality and Reliability: Nintendo
Their systems rarely have flaws like overheating and it has a long life.
I like Microsoft because they deliver what the customers want.
Sony... I am so disappointed in their computer lineup that I kinda gave up on everything Sony unless its like headphones

Just enjoyed my entire childhood with the playstation. Not much on the 2 or 3 (playstation) cause their CD's cost too much for their lousy games -_- . Microsoft for the PC's and Nintendo was cool with their Gameboys cause they're portable at the time. Didn't updated much after that and just stick with PC games.

Despite Playstation 1, 2, and 3 having some of my favorite games, I have to go with Nintendo on this one. Not because of the Wii (it needs some good games for it), but N64, SNES, and NES. Oh, and GBA and DS. I love my DS. I grew up on Nintendo and it defined gaming for me. I was sad when Square defected to Playstation. It made me even more sad when Rare switched to XBox, of all things. Banjo Kazooie was awesome.

I wonder though, does anyone miss SEGA being in the console wars? It feels a little empty without a SEGA brand console out there.

i think sony, i have everything appart from the wii ( not enough good games) and i like my ps3 and ps2 most, on the ps2 there is lots of cool games and lots of japanese anime games which i love also the ps3 is really good with games like Heavy Rain, god of war 3 etc i just cant wait for, i also like nintendo but the only reason i like microsoft is cos of PC, i think that there was no point in getting my xbox 360 cos nearlly all the games for it i can just download for my pc, i grew up with nintendo but also sony number 1

Really each company had their time to shine and dominate the gaming scene. Nintendo killed with its Super Nintendo and N64 but then came along with Sony's PS1 and later the PS2. Microsoft had its Xbox but what set it apart from the PS2 was its Xbox Live capability. Then all the new consoles these companies produced all have internet capability and basically now relies on what games are offered on which console.

As a company in it self I would rank
Nintendo > Microsoft > Sony

I give Nintendo a lot of respect for its standards and quality. It may not meet the tastes of gamers but gamers aren't what they are after.

I enjoy the systems from ALL 3 companies, but, if I HAD to make a choice...3rd Nintendo, 2nd Sony, 1st Micrsoft. This might not be an accurate rating, as each produces something new frequently, so I'll naturally like one more than the other but...*shrugs*

I'd say Sony overall. Although I loved the NES and SNES, the PS1/PS2 really brought me great times. Greater than anything the N64 (which wasn't bad) or gamecube even came close to....

Gamecube wasn't bad, however it wasn't that great either.
Xbox - lol, bit late

As for the new consoles: Wii - no thanks...seriously, no thanks
360 - good, but I find myself not needing one since have a decent gaming PC and most 360 games are on PC later
PS3 - finally coming around and is pretty decent lately.

For the console "maker" I would have to say Sony, I don't think it can be argued that when a new gen console comes out sony's always comes out as the most powerful, unfortunately they're expensive because of that.

With that said I would like to note that Nintendo ALWAYS rules when it comes to creativity, don't agree? Explain Project Natal (I think is what they call it) and the Sony Move, both Sony and M$ saw how well Nintendo did with their Motion Control and are now planning to take the idea and improve upon it. The bottom line is that Nintendo as a company is a marketing Genius, case in point being how many different revisions of the DS are there? and they're still the best selling hand-held console!

As for Microsoft, I really don't think they're all that special, they never really bring anything new to the table, and as far as I know the only great thing about the 360 is Halo, which IMO is a terrible franchise, and am glad it's finally done with. Microsoft seems to be the greediest of the 3 giants. The last thing I'd like to point out is the controller...wtf? Whoever decided that was a good idea is hopefully no longer employed, I mean..no matter how many times I pick up a 360 controller it never seems to get any more comfortable, it just seems unnatural.

Nintendo is the only console I bother with... Xbox and PS just tries to be PCs with their sparkly graphics and games that don't work at all on consoles. Whoever had the idea of making fps games for console fails miserably.

PC ftw!

Nintendo is a company specialised only in videogames, and they are really good, but the best one for me is Sony. I don't know, the whole movement idea from the Wii is good but I'm sick of my mother almost forcing me to play something I have to move a lot like dance dance revolution because she says I spend too much time sitting or laying down, and sony has almost everything, including some of the greatest games like god of war or final fantasy.

I've never owned or even played on an x-box of any class so I can't comment about it.

Nintendo for me well games like Mario, Zelda and Metroid are limted tot hem so i stick with them, and the Super Nintendo is still the best of them XD but the wii is getting kinda annoying with all the movement shit. funny part is everyone is kinda hating it, and now Microsoft and sony are gonna copy it.
Xbox is worthless piece of crap, thing keep crashing and overheating only Gears of War is good.
Never been a real fan of sony even if they have a lot nice rpg games, they just ask way to much money for their consoles and their support is worthless.

Sony.
Nintendo did come out with the Wii and with the movement technology they where prolly the best at one point in time. (Though PS2 had a few move type games using the PS eye). Zelda and the coveted Goldeneye (From the N64) really set it apart though I do remeber the Castlevania was always good as well.

Microsoft (Xbox) has Halo (One of the best out and most coveted game) but thats all I really can say as a plus for xbox. going online be prepared to pay a yearly subscription and investing money into the xbox for updates and hardware. Mostly do not forget service fee's (Red ring of death) in order to avoid this spend money on fans to install and what not.

So again we go back to the Playstation while yes Xbox did come out with the kinetic or whatever its called (Using the same technology PS2 used when they had the PS eye where a few games had movement) Sony has updated all ps3's to be fully 3d capable for FREE! many of the PS3 gaes are going to be PS Move capable as well as even 3d. These games will also be coded so if you do not have the move or 3d tv no worries it will play and when you upgrade the tv or move ability you can start playing that way.

So when it comes down to best console for your buck. PS3 (Blueray, Internet, Move controller, and etc. etc.) A company that is one of the biggest and best on the market that truly respects and wants to give the best to its users. Other consoles think of only the allmighty dollar and rush production of games and add ons without testing and release with bugs. Forcing you to constantly have to update where as Sony releases solid games and add ons. The PSHome has tons of free games, trailers to watch and even cheap games to play. The salt shooter game (Sodium) first 5 levels are free and for a purchase of the jacket for your avatar (4.99) you unlock 50 levels. The game is actually pretty cool but more to the point being able to walk around on a online community to talk and play free quest and games or even meet up and setup games is awesome.

I think Nintendo currently is in the lead right now...cuz they were aiming for not only hardcore gamers but also casual gamers plus the fact that it is family-oriented so most people end up playing even though they havent played vid games in a long time or even if its they're first time

as for sony...I think the ps3 is at a semi-fail right now...I dont see that much games being talked about for the ps3....as for the psp...there arent many games worth waiting for right now...there was a spark for me when it came to psp games that I cant see right now...

as for microsoft...I think their age is about to bloom through microsoft kinect...once its released I think there would be more people playing the 360

overall I think nintendo is leading and microsoft has the potential to take the throne....as for sony better luck next time xD

I had never been allowed to have my own nintendo console as well as playstation console not until I became 15 6 years ago.
I got my gameboy sp and had real fun playing the games but they were quite limited compared with the playstation games.
I'm lame when it comes to playstation games, though. But that doesn't mean Sony doesn't have the edge.

Well for all you Sony PS fans out there, you can thank Nintendo for that. Its because of the direction that Nintendo took that caused Sony to release the PS system. I think Microsoft has come a long way for being the last to join the console market but they still have a ways to go. Plus they are good to have due to the pressure they put on Sony. I like the PS systems but Sony is just to $$$ for my wallet. In my view, Nintendo will always be king of the console. Not because they have cutting edge tech, but because they develop systems and games that everyone can own and enjoy.

Before the Wii came out, I told my friend that Nintendo was going to be the system to have and they all were nay sayers and ragged on me. Now you go over to their houses and they all have Wii's to go with their PS2/3 or XBOX/360's. Gotta love telling them "I told you so"!
