Last night was catastrophic for me!

Since I still live at home, I have to live with my parent's choice of ISP, which happens to block certain websites for a variety of reasons. That can be a good thing, since it weeds out a ton of viruses, but it can also be a horrendously bad thing at the same time. Here is my story:

I finished watching Ouran High School Host Club episode 15, and clicked the button to go to episode 16. Much to my surprise, instead of the friendly gray and green of OS, I see the block page from the ISP! It said OS was blocked because it was under the category of "porn"! I couldn't believe it. Especially since one of this site's primary rules is "keep it PG-13"! I thought it must've been a fluke, so I decided to go to the main page of OS, but recieved the same thing! OS was blocked from me! I checked back in 15 minutes, but the same was there. It was no use.

Horrified, I had nothing more I felt like doing than going to bed and sleeping. After an equally stressing and unforgiving day, I decided, "hey, what the heck, I'll check and see if it's unblocked" (which was unlikely) and... here I am miraculously typing this post!

I just wanted to take this time to let all of you at OS (members, administrators, all of you!) how thankful I am of you! This site really is my home away from home on the internet, and would be horrified if this event happened again! If it did, I'd have no choice but to wait until I moved out (which is my current, yet lofty goal because of how hard it is to get a job in my town) before I could return to OS, which... face it, is a horrifying idea!

THANK YOU OS FOR EXISTING! You make my day worthwhile even if I had a bad day up until I log in!

I know, right? I've gradually gotten very sick of it over the years, but I have to live with it while I still live at home...

I've been hearing a lot about softwares that gives strict control of website access and blocks out a user from entering an R-18 site...

But this? OS as "porn"?! LMAO! The dude who made this should really fix some bugs in his masterpiece...:3:

WHAT! the idea of thinking that OS is porn is truly unacceptable.
I wanna kick that idea! hmmp.

I'll hate it if my ISP has that feature.

I have tried using a computer with those restrictions, and ended up not being able to browse even the gaming forum because they are also classifiend as "porn" D:

Well, they're definitely not the strictest parents in the world, but they have their moments. Right now, I'm just overjoyed that OS isn't blocked anymore!

@OVirus53 you know it is possible to bypass any block your ISP puts on sites, had to do it because the court decide to block access to thepiratebay here in Denmark :(.

I can think of a couple possible, but I'm not really good enough with computers for that, or it's just out of the question for other reasons. For now, it's all okay, as long as OS remains unblocked now I will be a happy camper.

Bummer with that court decision, though. I hate it how a simple court ruling can cramp the style of millions of people. Particularly with the cases where it's an isolated situation and they stereotype because of that.

Reminds me of not long ago when due to a California court ruling Homeschooling was banned unless you were a certified teacher. It was all because of an isolated situation with some parents who really shouldn't have been homeschooling their kids. Thankfully that got overturned eventually, but I digress...

yes... we in germany have that problem too... somehow the government just strictly refuses it, to let someone stay at home to let the parents do it.

But in my opinion thats good because in school you gather all your social contacts and its your way to get to know people in your age

Learn how to hack bro, it'll help you tons. Then again you can probably just mess with the ISP settings yourself.

because our internet security blocks all sites related to gaming
and WTF, OS was one of them! *lol wut?!*
so i secretly ninja'd my way to the passwords and got OS unblocked

relief. relief indeed! :>

If something like that ever happened to me... and I still lived with my parents, I know what I'd have done. I'd just hop in my car, drive to starbucks or mcdonalds where they have free WiFi, pull out my laptop and setup camp there, I'd never leave! VIVA OS!

My old school laptop had net nanny on it, but they called it Content Block. After I used OS for a while it started to block it! Then it went into infinite reboot :D

They sent me a new laptop, better this time. To my surprise I did not have to sign into Content Block(yay)!

IP blocks are cruel!

At least you can still use OS though ;)

Content Blocked?

OS is a PG-13 Site after all, there are many under 13 here lol, So I guess we have that right? especially in the Rules xD
