though... "best yandere" is an odd term.. Is it just the best person? Or the best person who embodies the term of "yandere"...

I'm surprised you didn't include Yuno Gasai xD she was like the first yandere I encountered... and actually one of the two examples that Wikipedia uses for Yandere ><

but surprisingly I had to relook up some of my definitions..
Yandere (ヤンデレ?) is a Japanese term for a person who is initially very loving and gentle, then at one point becomes deranged or psychotic, often brutally so.
(this means permanently ><)

In short, the yanderekko is motivated through her love for the male protagonist, while a yangire character is motivated through other characters and will not be connected with emotions of love or attraction. Like yandere, the related noun yangirekko can be used to describe a female character with a yangire personality trait.

the wiki article goes on to state that Rena is in fact classified as a Yangire o.o
