In Sri Lanka, the local New Year is celebrated in April and for 2-3 days everything closes down so you cant be called into work even if there is stuff to be done. There are also a lot of sweets and oil cakes which people share with one another ... yummy
(Of course the next week you have to deal with the extra weight you put on but its fun)

New Years is always great though (Who doesn't like to shoot fireworks?) But if I am saying for just the Fireworks then the 4th of July also is good (Also since I am from America it is good to celebrate the day the deceleration of Independence was signed)But the more I think about it I have to say Either New Years or Halloween (Halloween cause the haunted houses are open all month) and new years for the Fireworks muhaha

Im from Philippines we have a holiday claeed Bonifacio day even if it is just an ordinary holiday to celebrate the feat of our hero but it is also my birthday that's why this is my favorite holiday. It is Nov 30.

My favorite holiday is Christmas because of the festive are surrounding that time of year. It's always quite cold where I live in December, and nothing is more pleasurable than strolling down a street lit by sparkling Christmas light all bundled up in boots, a heavy coat, and scarf. Plus, it's the only holiday that lasts for an entire month (if you're like my family and start decorating the day after Thanksgiving) :)

I always really like to celebrate Easter. I don't come from a religious family so we don't ascribe any particular religious connotations to that day, but there is something about the feasting and pastel colored decorations that I really like. The basket full of candy in the morning is just a bonus, haha.
