The movie was based around a real theory that the world will end in 2012 because that's when the Mayan Calendar ends. Silly, isn't it? Amazing what some people will be fooled into believing. That movie really didn't help the situation at all, either. Talk about panic mongering.

That one at least has some grain of truth to it. There IS an asteroid, and there IS a chance it could hit earth. I heard it's like a 1 in 37 chance it could hit. But that's a long time away, so there's plenty of time for people to come up with the proper solution to that.

Oh, and 2012 won't happen. So a calendar ended on DEC 21st 2012. MY calendar ended on 2010. And the one before that, 2009. When we asked the Myan's what they thought about 2012, they said "What the f*ck are you talking about?"

Nothing much happened in the last decade compared to events in the past.

Most notatably the Spanish Flu which killed about 3% of the world population and infected a third of the world population in 1918.

With todays technology its unlikely that something that big will happen again unless the pandemic is man made and engineered to do just that.

On a more serious note, I don't like to speculate what will/won't happen in the future. My reasoning is simply that such thinking won't do anyone any good. Just look back at the Millennium nonsense: everything thought the world was going to end at the stroke of midnight. Yet we're still here. Now we're looking forward to 2012 with trepidation because a single ancient civilization's calendar happened to not "end" in that year. There's no evidence anywhere to support the wild idea propagated by the mass media/internet/etc that the world is going to end on December 21, 2012.

We will just have to wait and see what happens.

I love this mentality. The more positive you are, the more you invite good people, good things, good chances to come your way, the likelier it is that they will.


On a more statistical and factual side, I do see a potential upheaval on the horizon. Let's face it, the economies in many countries are broken down and disintegrating. The laws are being twisted and corrupted in ways that resemble ancient struggles in our history books. People are getting -tired-.

I'm not sure about elsewhere, but I do know that here in the States, in certain cities, certain states themselves as a whole, people are getting anxious, angry, and desperate. It began with a lot of people committing suicide due to societal pressures and being unable to feed their families. For example, last year a man and woman killed their child, and then the husband killed her, and then killed himself. All because they were terrified that they wouldn't be able to survive their financial oppression. (That was here in the city I live in.)

Many people who shield themselves from noticing these things would probably disagree. They'd say "well since its not happening in my family, then its not happening anywhere." and they'd be gravely mistaken. A lot of kids tend to have this point of view too. 15-22 year olds who might still be in the safe cocoons of their loved ones, may not be seeing the way things really are thanks to their loved ones attempts to keep them happy and protected. But it is happening. Recently where I live, 3 police officers were murdered point blank by an idiot for very little reason. It's the tension, the desperation to make money and live a lifestyle that is "promised" by the "land of the free". Sorry, but freedom is speculative. Freedom is a vague term used by way too many people to make things seem promising and happy. Freedom is not so easily gotten though. You might enter a country that isn't politically oppressed, but that doesn't mean it's really free. There are economical oppressions by corporations and medias who would love to suck people dry because hey, thats what they were made for. There are also societal oppressions, where people themselves become the oppressors when something doesn't fit their idea of what is right. There's educational oppression, where an area is so disregarded that it's schools get NO help from the people around it or the government, feeding into ignorance and neglect. So on and so forth.

And just because ONE of those oppressions may not apply to you or to people you know, it doesn't mean that none of them do. Sometimes people don't even know they're being oppressed. They just SNAP.


I don't think 2012 is a big deal as far as the end of the world. I do however believe that people are going to shift in a BIG big way over the coming years, and revolutions may come back into fashion.

Well, looking at recent trends, I'd say we will have another epidemic (well I'm sorry for being a pessimist). The next problem that we will have will be clean water supply. There are some speculations over a next war being fought over water, which is not impossible. But I don't want wars, man; and neither should you.

And 2012 is a load of crap. The Mayans must be like bored with their predictions and stuff, and must have also predicted their own deaths. So as a joke, they just stopped writing their calenders at 2012.
