this is half suggestion half question..

According to Shadowsliyte, the two majour programs used to make a file available to upload here is AllToAVI, and Bencos. AllToAVI is a great program, but it takes a LONG time to do anything, and i generally try to avoid using it unless im dealing with soft subbing.

So, my majour question is, what SPECIFIC role does AllToAVI play in the conversion scheme? is it simply making things AVI? or does it have a bigger role in things, because im planning on uploading the 2002 version of Kanon, which i noticed wasnt on OtakuStreamers, but its already hard sub AVI. In this case, would AllToAVI even be necessary?

As for Bencos, as far as i know that makes the file into a .MP4 or something like that, but he found out that SUPER can be used as an alternative, which ive found to be a much faster program at conversion, while keeping quality generally high (unless the file was crap in the first place)

So, long story short, if im correct, and AllToAVI only is needed for soft-subbing issues, and Bencos only changes stuff to .mp4, couldn't we just use a universal converter, such as SUPER, to get it all done a LOT faster?

Alltoavi is only there to convert things into avi for bencos to convert into a streamable mp4. There are many types of mp4 and OS webplayer plays the output of mp4 from bencos. Also, the conversion from bencos encodes a video in a small file size while retaining most of its video quality. I honestly haven't experimented on SUPER yet if it can convert a decent streamable mp4 video because SUPER takes up a lot of CPU resource and is a lot slower for me.

If you want, you can try and let us know if it works. You can try converting a video into mp4 using SUPER and PM me the link. Mention the play time of the video and the settings you have used in converting it. I will check if it is streamable.

alright, sounds like a plan. so from what you said, since my Kanon episodes are already MP4, i dont need to bother with converting it to AVI... cool

Nope you dont need to reconvert, however you need to check if they are streamable and the size of each episode should not exceed around 60MB per file.

Most of our members are from asian countries and dont have great connections so videos larger than 60MB will take a long time to buffer/stream

PS : if you dont know how to check if they are streamable, upload one episode and one of us will check and let you know. I know how to check, but being totally IT inept, am clueless on how to explain :1:
