In response to questions about the length of the single-player campaign, Infinity Ward CCO Jason West stated that Modern Warfare 2 would not be longer than the 6-10 hour-long campaign of Call of Duty 4. Mission settings in the game will include Russia, a military base in Kazakhstan, a desert area in Afghanistan, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.A trailer released on the official Infinity Ward YouTube page teased fighting at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., although it is unknown if the game will feature fighting in that setting. Aw man, I saw that trailer and thought that part looked pretty awesome.
They should definitely include it!

Some of my friends are skipping school on the day it comes out. Since the campaign is only 6-10 hours (lazy), I guess they will only be skipping one school day though.

The campaign is actually only 5 hours long, apparently.

This game will be awful on the PC. Here's why.

-No dedicated servers.
-No mod tools.
-All servers are maxed at 9v9. The games "not balanced" for anything higher. Got a competitive team with >9 players? Tough luck.
-The game chooses who is hosting, without much regard for if their ISP will ALLOW for hosting or not
-If the host leaves, the game WILL pause for five seconds while it tries to choose who will now pick up hosting capabilities. Without fail. And the host might be an even worse choice thereafter.
-No lean.
-No console. At all. No cheating, granted, but absolutely no tweaking as to how the game runs beyond that which is in the Options menu.
-You can't record any matches.
-You can't ban or kick players from your game, even if they're hacking. IW just says "all hackers will be banned" - great, so why won't we be able to kick them?
-Oh, but this isn't a port of the console version! It has custom features like the ability to use the mouse, to use text chat, and choose custom resolutions!

What a lazy cash grab. Way to screw-up such a hugely anticipated game, Activision. I recommend you guys just pirate this or rent it.

I must say it's pretty cool.

Dualing handguns/machine pistols is not highly recommended BTW. It screws up your accuracy, removes the ability to zoom in/aim properly, and eats your ammo fast (particularly with the machine pistols). If you decide to go that route, I suggest getting the perk that increases hip-fire accuracy and/or the scavenger perk so you can re-arm off of fallen enemies.

Same with scavenger goes for if you're carrying around a rocket launcher/grenade launcher. Scavenger will offset the downside of extremely limited ammo on the side of explosive weaponry.

Riot shields are also cool, but completely take up the spot of a primary weapon. The bonus is that they will absorb almost any type of weaponry tossed directly at them (including minigun emplacements), and when you have your secondary weapon equipped, it will act as a turtleshell, protecting your backside.

I'm particularly fond of the AK-47 Grenadier/Shotgun. Preferably shotgun if the option is available. Most people go with the scope, but I find it obscures my vision more than helps me see.

As a secondary, the Striker shotgun is pretty sweet.

Need to play more co-op mode with my brother tomorrow.

Im a hardcore fan of modern warfare 2 and I just though I would post a few tips for anyone who has the game and checks this thread.

The scavenger perk is very underrated. Most people use sleight of hand however if you like to use grenade launchers or claymores then scavenger is definately the better option.

One of the best methods of holding an area is to use scavenger/claymore. This is because every time someone runs past your claymore and dies you can simply walk over and get a new claymore and repeat. Combine this with stopping power and ninja and you have a great class setup for holding objectives(camping).

Lightweight is also amazing. It is best suited for the tactical knife or the 1887 duel weild shotguns. Using marathon/lightweight/commando you have a perfect rushing class designed for running around the maps full tilt racking up the kills.

Personal favourite weapons are m16 red dot, Arc Holographic sight, usp with tactical knife, 1887 dual weild shotguns, ak74 silenced.

Best kill streaks are Harrier jet - this gives you a airstrike and a hovering attack jet. Pave low - heavily armoured helicopter that is hard to shoot down. Chopper gunner - allows you to take control of an attack helicopter and fire at enemies for up to 1 minute. Tactical Nuke - hard to achieve as requires a 25 kill streak but guarantees instant victory and 6 or 9 kills depending on gametype.

Next time you are on try the E21 sniper rifle. Its the same one from the campaign and it owns. It has low damage but is semi automatic with a large clip and low recoil. I find i can easily take out 2 or 3 people in a row. Also handy for rushing if you have a quick trigger finger

Actually it looks more like the Istiglal which is an Azerbaijan anti-material rifle. (14.5mm)

If not, then the next closest choice would of course be the M82A1 Barrett..

nah..just look up the missions Shock and Awe and Aftermath..or at least the cutscenes. However the campaign for cod4 is great, so id recommend it if you have the money. After looking up those 2 missions im sure youll be convinced to get the game anyways xD

Id say rent or borrow modern warfare 1. trust me you wont get into the multiplayer very well knowing that you have modern warfare 2, so just borrow it from a friend or something and play the campaign through.

If you have patience for the bolt-action reload, the Intervention is my favorite sniper rifle. If not, the semi-auto barret .50 is a good alternative.

I'm a fan of the Dragunov, and pretty much most of the russian-associated weaponry ingame, but lately I've avoided it ever since it failed me at a vital moment in a special ops mission and caused us to fail: it apparently can't penetrate Juggernaut body armor.

Well, juggernauts are a bit tricky. If you just blast away at them, they'll stumble around and it seems like they have this small period of time while they're stumbling that body shots are no good. However from what I've tested a headshot will work at that moment.

Otherwise I shoot them just when they recover completely. Not many weapons affect them at all, sniper rifles such as the Barrett .50 and the Intervention have proven useful against them, as well as the thumper, rpg, and if he's low enough health, the knife. I believe desert eagles also work, but if a barrett .50 is available I always take that over the desert eagle.

The Intervention with it's bolt action has just enough time inbetween shooting them and reloading that you're able to fire again just when they've finished recovering. The trouble with this weapon is if you hit him in bad spots five rounds in a row, you have to change clips. And then it's to the grave, unless there's somewhere to run quickly.

The best thing by far to use on them for a free, easy shot is a flashbang or a stun grenade. That stops them up for a short amount of time, and it's also useful for escaping or trying a last ditch attempt at killing them with your knife. But I wouldn't suggest that.

Between three different special ops maps involving juggernauts, I'd say that I've personally killed about 20-30 of them, maybe more. Me and my brother did a bunch of trial and error before succeeding against those guys. The occasional random spawn behind us never helped either. T^T

Sigh... I love how the current online play fad equipment setup is a good sniper rifle with akimbo 1887 shotguns as a secondary... No imagination whatsoever. It really doesn't help their case that they fire both shotguns simultaneously and leave themselves open to enemy fire while they re-arm their guns.

Flamezaber is right. It really is overrated. Battlefield Bad Company 2 really proved how overrated MW2 was. O_o

Still, BC2 can't do splitscreen multiplayer for fun nights over at my brother's apartment. So we play MW2. Oh well, it's still pretty fun. It's less fun online than splitscreen.

Singleplayer was awesome though.

I also think that the online play is the best part in the game intill people noob-tube all the time and stop u from getting nukes. but other then that the game is great and I think MW3 might be better but I have no idea.

And IW... need to really need to look up how good guns are, I mean look at the AA-12 in that game it's really good but not as good as it in real life. This shotgun can kill some one from 200 feet away and in mw2 10-20 feet you get hitmarkers and kill the other player in about 2-3 shots. They need to bring back the 1887's range back. why you ask? well irl the 1887s range are like snipers and if IW wants there game(s) to be more real then they need to make the guns like in real life.

Sorry Kira but having the AA -12 sniping people from across the map sounds awefull... The key to a good Multiplayer game such as MW2 is maintaining a realistic feeling whilst having a balanced weapon/perk selection. Having a shotgun that can snipe people from 200 meters away would ruin the game. Skill would go out the window...

The whole point of the game is skill and tactics. And Im telling you there was no skill involved with all the N00BS that ran around with akimbo unpatched 1887s... real FPS skill is knowing which weapon to use for the job, and being able to control the recoil and fire rate of chosen weapon.

And regarding the perks , if you think that commando is OTT bear in mind that Skill and correct counter perk choice makes up for this, for example I use Sit Rep PRO which increases the sound of footsteps and crunches so I can hear if someone is running around really fast and is jumping off buildings so I am able to stop them before they get close enough.

All in all I think infinity ward have made a well balanced game with only a couple of flaws. If you had skill and tactics then you would realise that there is a counter perk and equipment choice for everything so there really isnt an excuse to moan about any individual perks or equipment being better than others...

And that is why MW2 fails so horribly. It's got none of that. Sorry, but it's way too imbalanced to be a proper game if you want more than "run and gun" and/or "spray and pray". The kill/deathstreaks make it even worse. That's why BF: BC2 is overtaking it now.

For me, i like MW 1 and WOW more than MW 2. The only good thing in MW 2 was the wide variety of guns

has anyone else noticed that FMJ doesnt seem to work on the WA2000? or is it my imagination? I have had a couple times where i'll get 3-4 hit markers with it through walls or platforms and the person wont die. I dont think it was painkiller.

Tested it out and FMJ is indeed glitched on WA2000 or its severely underpowered. if you aim for the waist or limbs(anywhere that doesnt get a dmg boost which is anywhere besides the head, neck, and chest) it is a 3 shot kill through a wall without fmj....and a 3 shot kill with fmj(note this is without stopping power. So it might only be glitched only while not using stopping power. (kinda like how stopping power is meaningless on the fal unless you equip holographic sights)....so the point of fmj is....? nothing because its glitched like the silencer on the m9 that still has you show up on enemy radar. (so the only point in silencing an m9 is to handicap urself because it doesnt keep u off radar) and the silencers for some of the lmgs are glitched. and iron sights for several guns are not aligned correctly.
