My daughter has started watching anime with me from time to time. She really like it but she is more into reading. I thought I should buy her some manga for her birthday. She will be 9 next month. Does anyone know of some manga that is suitable for young to very young readers?

here are some of the anime that i think is best suited to your daughter...
-AliceAcademy:in this anime, the kids have some sort of magical powers called alice-great and funny...
-AngelicLayer:It's about a competition about dolls, which could be controlled by their owner...
-princessComet:About a princess searching for her prince, full of magic.
-AstroBoy- about a young robot boy.
-Mirmo- about small fairy like entities with their masters- soo funny and great.
-Keroro Gunso/ sergeant keroro- about frog like invaders -soo funny!
-FancyLala:about a girl with a magicpen and magicjournal which she uses to transform to a Celebrity
-UFObaby: Cute love story with an alien baby(lookslikeahuman)
Well,I hope that i helped you.Come visit the great demon kingdom someday! You're always welcome!

I'll have to agree with both Shuga Chara and Gakuen Alice... and perhaps I thought I'd be able to help you more... but 9 is a little low for anything I've read. But I one I actually CAN think of would be Zettai Karen Children.

I'm not sure what kinda genre she would like but these are some suitable ones and quite good for someone of her age. Hope she would enjoy anime in the future though (just cos there's sound lol)

The Pokemon actually die in the manga don't they? Unless you're reading the censored Viz Kidz one. In any event I 100% recommend Lucky Star. And to the person who said Card Captor... That was one of the first Anime I ever watched, it is what paved the path of Otaku for me. I love it dearly, I'm glad other people remember it :D

I wish I could help you there. But I don't read children type manga. Even if I do, I don't know if they are indeed children like manga. I mostly read ecchi type manga and the occasional sports type manga like Hajime no Ippo.
